I’m starting to get smart home curious, are there any quality hub systems that integrate with phones, perhaps even have voice recognition that aren’t also constantly listening and sending to Apple, Amazon, Google, etc?
I mean, they kind of have to do that in order to do the job via voice control, right?
IMO it’s a balance of which are less horrible from a privacy point of view versus more useful or better at the job itself. I use the Apple ecosystem because it’s somewhat less horrible on privacy, but know up front that Siri isn’t as good as some of the others at recognition.
I’m fairly sure that some of the other smart home early adopters here have since given up and disconnected their devices from he net entirely because they are so unreliable and/or the privacy issues are so severe.
