Space Game General All-Platform Thready Discussy Thing :)

Hello my wonderful gaming friends, and welcome to another week of spacey gaming. This week’s game of the week is, hopefully, the tactical space combat game DarkSpace. I say “hopefully” because the game crashed/froze after the first mission, and as I write this, I’m not sure if I can get it fixed. If not, I’ll figure something out for the rest of the week, I just don’t know what it is yet as I write this. Stay tuned!

Moving on from pre-recorded content, here’s this week’s streaming schedule (please remember, all times are Pacific):

  • Monday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Deep Space Nine: The Fallen stream.
  • Tuesday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Terminator: Resistance stream. No podcast this week.
  • Wednesday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Sigma Theory stream.
  • Thursday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Lord of the Rings Online stream. 4:00 PM-6:00 PM World War Z stream.
  • Friday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Mass Effect 2 stream.

You can see all of our planned upcoming streams and events on our calendar, as always!

You can watch any of these streams on Twitch, YouTube and several other locations.

Finally, in written content, this week’s discussion topic is thinking about my favorite gaming worlds I’d like to live in. In this week’s gaming check-in, I talk about games that overcome my gaming ADHD.

That’ll do it for this week y’all. Thanks so much for being awesome, and I hope to see y’all around!

Are you enjoying Deep Space Nine: The Fallen? How does it hold up 19 years later?

Story: great.
Voice acting: almost the entire cast returned, so great.
Gameplay: it’s been years since I’ve played a game that clearly hates the player as much as this game. Terrible platforming puzzles, unfair odds, scarse ammo, etc etc. I eventually loaded cheat codes to keep my sanity.

So if you wanna go in and cheat, do it that way. Otherwise steer clear unless you hate yourself.

Heh, yeah, games used to be quite a bit harder back then. I remember the part about always being low on ammo. The unfair odds bit didn’t bother me as much back then because you can save anywhere I think, and so the brief battles that erupted could be repeated a few times until you overcame the enemy.

Speaking of old games, I love it when they just install and work.

Is that (Star Trek Voyager) Elite Force?

Also, why are you playing it in a window? Does it not do full screen gracefully?

Sure is.

Because it’ll capture better via OBS in a window. Which it shockingly does natively.

Is that a Rebellion icon I see there? Everyone couple of months that game works its way into my brain somehow, and I wish…

Yup, I installed it to see if they actually fixed it for Windows 10. AND THEY DID. So I’ve been dabbling.

How’s the AI these days? That’s the main problem I seem to remember. (But it was a long time ago…)

Same as always

Friends, Trevor Sorensen needs testers for his updated version of the 1989 classic, Star Fleet II. If you’re interested, please email him directly at [email protected] Thank you.

OMG I played the heck out of that game!

Hello my friends, and welcome to another fantastic week of spacey gaming! This week’s game of the week (and next week) is the amazing space exploration and combat game, Starcom: Nexus, which I am absolutely loving. In terms of space exploration in a game, this is right up there with Starflight, Noctis and Distant Worlds as the top of the top. It’s so great, y’all.

Moving on from pre-recorded content, here’s this week’s streaming schedule (please remember, all times are Pacific):

  • Monday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force stream.
  • Tuesday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Volcanoids stream. 4:00 PM - Whenever, Mobile space games podcast stream.
  • Wednesday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Curator Curiosities stream. Today’s games will be Adam: Robot World, Deadliest Catch: The Game and Outbuddies.
  • Thursday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Far Cry 5 co-op stream. 4:00 PM-6:00 PM Generation Zero LAN party stream.
  • Friday - 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Mass Effect 2 stream.

You can see all of our planned upcoming streams and events on our calendar, as always!

You can watch any of these streams on Twitch, YouTube and several other locations.

Finally, in written content, this week’s discussion topic has me thinking about my my dire need for at least SOME focus in games. In this week’s gaming check-in, I am totally shocked by my reaction to a game from 2013.

That’s it for this coming week y’all. Hope y’all have a lovely week, and I hope I’ll see y’all in a stream or in comments somwhere!

Brian, any thoughts on SpaceBourne?

Fan-fucking-tastic, even in early access. It’s gonna be something special once it’s done.

Thank you! Bought!

Does it have Matt Damon?

Does it really need Matt Damon?

Thanks for the tips Brian, wishlisted both games (SpaceBourne and Starcom).

Always happy to help.
