Spellforce: Conquest of Eo is like Age of Wonders and Thea made a baby

On the room page, there is just one thing about earning the trust of the northern dwarven kingdom. Nothing about mining ore or killing dwarves.

It was on the Tower page where the levitate tower spell is. On the right page there.

I finished researching the golem spell and couldn’t wait to try it out. The only mining node in my domain I could raise one from was a corrupted adamantium node but I figured, why not? What I got was a blood golem that comes with the undying trait. He also can’t heal normally unless he kills something. But, I gave him a vampire: life leech glyph and now he’s an absolute unkillable terror.

I wonder if @tomchick is playing this? I would have thought he’d be interested in something innovative like this.

Nope, not there. I do have a quest for 1 adamantium bar though. Maybe after I do that quest?

No, I have that adamantium bar quest too and I’ve had the dwarven vault for a while. The adamantium bar thing is on the left page there. What do you see on the right page? What does it say there?

It says a lot, but nothing about dwarves and mines. Mostly about rare artifacts from blackwood and manna infused pillows. It talks about expanding my interior and decorating. There does not appear to be any kind of goal on that side. Just text.

No building I don’t think from there but the Keepers unit you can now train is a pretty great tier 3. Boost the hell out of their speed and do big damage with charge.

The stuff about dwarves and mines is on the Artificer page. If you are not playing an Artificer you probably have different requirements. As for the dwarven vault I got the option to research it on an Earth Magic page - it wasn’t too bad like 80 research or something. But that might be b/c the Artificer is an Earth Magic specialist.

Yeah, I am playing a necro. I am beginning to regret it. There are so many disadvantages. I am not sure I want start again. I am starting to get bored of it all. I am on week 34 and just running around doing random shit trying to find the necro academy and finding every type BUT that one.

Also still have not gotten a big all fire node and am still not being attacked.

So far I have also tried the alchemist. They work a lot better than the necro, but all their stuff (understandably) are consumables. I think powerful runes would be much better because they are permanent. You can get decent potions for free with the barracks upgrade.

My two big gripes with the necro are:

  1. Non necro heroes / apprentices do not synergize with undead troops. IE: Thier heals and stuff do not work on undead. Their buffs and debuffs are against undead.
  2. Getting quality troops is very difficult. You need higher tier souls and I am just not finding them. I have huge stacks of tier 1 souls, and moderate stacks for tier 2 souls and almost no tier 3 souls. Without a way to combine lesser souls into greater ones, fielding these armies just do not work for more than one quality stack.

Come to think of it, why am I torturing myself. I should just start over tomorrow as an artifactor.

Advice to anyone playing this game in its current state: Do not play a necro and do not play on “Normal” difficulty until you have played quite a bit on the Explorer difficulty.

Also do not take a large all fire node until you are ready to be attacked by circle mages.

I was going to say that mine is on one of the Earthmaster pages, but I couldn’t recall what exactly I had to do to get it. Artificer here as well.

The ending battle had a new mechanic that made it tougher than its numerical rating, but it wasn’t too bad. I still think the game took too long, but part of that may be be that I didn’t know what to focus on. I guess I really ought to try it on normal next, but I also want to try artificer and there will be a learning curve for that too…

Wasn’t / Isn’t there another game in development where you manage a Sorcerer Tower?

Yeah, Spire of Sorcery by the Eador devs.

Why do I get the feeling they’ve been obsoleted?

As I recall, it much much more of a real time sim originally but then they completely changed it into some weird roguelite kind of game that people hated and development stalled. In in case, very, very different from this game.

My number one wish for this game is that they add some type of filter to the crafting system. Let me click on/off the 4 colors of ingredients so I don’t go blind trying to find all the combinations of blue/green among the 100 or so ingredients in the list.

I’ll do you one better and wish that in addition to a filter, if I clicked a recipie that I did have the pips for it would auto-populate with the most efficient method the mats I need to make said thing, assuming I have those mats.

Yes, better inventory and quest UI would add a lot!
I started a new game on “balanced,” and it seems to me that the tactical AI is much more aggressive- it often accepts opportunity attacks to get flanking, and it seems to focus more on weakened characters. So I need to change my tactics and try to think ahead more, which is great now that I feel more comfortable with the basic mechanics.

Bastards got me in one fight yesterday. Burned down my shaman right away, and then since I couldn’t heal they picked off one of my soldier units. Now that I think about it, I likely screwed up since I think I had a healing potion and could’ve clicked the backpack to get it for the soldier. The focusing down the shaman though was one of the best things I’ve seen them do. Normal MO has been focused on my hero or apprentice that can rank the damage much better than the shaman.

I figured out why I didn’t get the dwarven vault with my necro. Started a new game as an artifactor, and its a research item on the earth spells page. I guess my alchemist got that too and I was thinking it was a quest reward or something.

I’m still trying to get the spell to summon a shaper golem. I want one of those bad boys.
