Star Wars: Clone Wars

Ok, I know there was a thread on this already. But instead of digging it up, I am starting this one for those who, like me, are only just now seeing the series thanks to Cartoon Net’s complete run last night.

I have only watched the first hour (of three), but all I can say is WOW. I had heard good things, but damn. This is a great cartoon. That scene with Windu is incredible. I am so looking forward to watching the next hour tomorrow now.

the last 5 episodes blow away the chapters 1-20

I thought this at first, too, but the non-stop shooting/fighting got awfully tedious after about 20 mins for me. The only episode that made it worthwhile was the battle between Anakin and Ventress on what looked to be the fourth moon of Yavin, on the Massassi Temples. That whole battle was fantastic.

Did you watch it all in one clump or in the three minute segments when they originally aired?

Stomper Ship is the best thing ever in anything.

Nevermind the Stomper Ship, Windu disables a droid by pull out all of its bolts and screws.

If that doesnt scream “Badass Jedi Master”… I don’t know what does.

This sounds like it’s going to be cool in a way that just makes me hate the rest of Star Wars even more, so I should probably avoid it till I’ve at least finally seen Ep3.

Clone Wars is a great series. I’m glad it’s being continued after the movies. Hopefully LucasArts is thinking ahead and is working on a game based on this visual style.

I don’t think it is- or at least in its current style and incarnation. Its my understanding that another animation house, not the one from the creator of Samurai Jack, will be doing future Star Wars animated series and that they will be CGI.

You gotta love the fact too that now the Clone Troopers arn’t just cannon fodder, but that commando team taking on the huge cannon was pretty sweet. I tried to find a figure of the Clone Commander at Target, but they were long gone. Just a ton of Bail Organa’s and Padme’s.

Well, that’s unfortunate. I wasn’t sure what Lucas meant when he said the series would be “3D.” Did he mean it would be CGI or did he mean it would literally be in 3D? Given his new crazy angle of re-releasing the movies in 3D starting in 2007, the latter wouldn’t be entirely out of question.

Either way, I like the Clone Wars as a setting. The Dark Horse trade paperbacks are worth a read, too.

On DVD in total, but I watched some of the short segments, too. The whole thing just seemed incredibly, well, dumb. Here’s Mace Windu. He jumps around killing droids for a few minutes. The end. And repeat, but with different Jedi. Like I said above, I really liked the Anakin scene with the dark Jedi, but that was about it after an initial “Gee whiz” reaction.

Clone Wars was Star Wars porn: Just enough story to string you from one hot piece of stupifyingly awesome action to the next. Apparently, you don’t like porn.

My wife would beg to differ…

It was great, I’ll be purchasing the DVD’s now. Pretty sad that as a whole they are better and more effective than Episode’s 1 and 2.

Not just as a whole. Each minute was better than both those movies, and I didn’t even have to pay for it.

In that sense, it’s much better than porn. However, the feeling in my groin is not as nice.

(Edited…not really, but imagine if this WERE the edited version)

Where do I go to watch these bastards?

Cartoon Network. They’ve also released a DVD of all 25 chapters. Or you could probably find them with some diligent bittorent searching.

The DVD is of just the first 20 chapters. Apparently (and im just going with what others have said here) they are releasing the last 5 chapters in August.

Really? That sucks. It doesn’t seem like it would be worth it to produce a DVD with ~25 minutes of content. I guess they wanted to cash in on the Episode III craze, though, and not wait for the last 5 chapters.
