Steam gets naughty. Porn for sale!

That’s what I keep telling my parole officer!

I have not been presented with any more anime penises but I checked my queue for this morning. There were two. Both were pseudo porn - something about “waifu” and “keyhole”. Needless to say neither was placed on my wish list.

Well, insta-buying does sorta negate that need I guess.

Cute :)

This looks like a winner though.

Well, I was kind of taken by surprise when playing the latest Mass Effect game and discovering you get to se nakid boobs and not just bikini tops. I ,ust be getting old.

Bloo boobs too

Bloobs

Oh good my “Recommended for you,” on Steam is now infiltrated by porn games.
Tell me more about Hentai Legends.

Why? Because almost all Porn games are categorized as RPGs. You like Pathfinder and Divinity? Then you totally want this Loli sex game. It’s basically the same as The Witcher.

Edit: Browsing RPG: Hentai Memory Puzzles!
Yeah totally an RPG. Hot Girls VR also seems very RPG.

I just noticed this same thing on my account tonight. There’s supposed to be a setting somewhere to turn it off, but I was too lazy to go looking for it.

Super annoying. I wish Steam didn’t clog my screen with so much garbage. It’s basically the Google Play store now days, and I find it too difficult to sort the shit from the real games.

The issue is that some, more legitimate, games also have those tags. The Witcher 3, for example, has the tags “nudity”, “mature” and “fantasy”. If you exclude those tags you will miss those games from your queue.

Where are you purchasing games from nowadays?

  • Anime

Gets a pretty big chunk of them. I’m not an Anime game lover anyway, so that tag removal was a win for me. I should mention though, they still show up in “New and Trending,” even after ignoring them. I -really- wish games like this were tagged by Steam with a +porn category, and we could filter them out entirely. I’m not a prude, but I really don’t like this shit in the Steam store on top of all the other copy-cat shit that has been bubbling up as well.

I complained about this very thing up-thread, though it was slightly more graphic than just digital thrupney bits. Of course my OCD makes me want to go through my Steam queue completely so I see all the jubblie-fests and other sorted games among the 30,000 or more now marked as Not Interested.

Steam doesn’t get a cut of keys bought off-site. Depending on where you’re buying, they might be scam keys the developer doesn’t get a cut of, either. Not saying you should care whether Steam gets any money when the store isn’t doing its job, but you should probably make sure it’s a place where the developer gets their share at least.

He’s buying them on Steam, but isn’t going to the Store front page to search for them, as he can just get links directly to the games. I usually just search for a game myself on google. Then try to buy it at Humble or GOG before going to Steam’s game page to buy it.

Tags don’t seem to affect what you’re shown very much. These settings work better:

Under Store Preferences, under your account.

If you guys excluded Anime, you’d miss out on games like Recettear which would be a shame because it’s actually a really good game. I understand some might have preferred for it to be less Anime like but i figure it’s games like that that have inspired other like games.

They really just need a way to remove porn or graphic novels or maybe like combo tags porn+graphic novels. I’m thinking about removing all my excluded tags now that i know it doesn’t work the way I want to.

I’m still hoping that that we get really good games, like the Bioware,Witcher, even Thea games that will just push a little more into the adult area. Thea kind of already does, just not visually.

Yeah…my problem is that I’m okay with anime, ok with visual novels, okay with nudity and porn in my games…but I have no interest in games where the latter is the primary draw. So I’d love to ditch like 75% of the anime/VN games flooding Steam at a minimum, but without ruling out stuff like Witcher 3 (which has nudity and sexual content), or Muv-Luv (which has like a porn scene per route if decensored, but is really well written and mostly about other things). And because the tags are super broad and you can’t use the concurrence of multiple tags in a single filter (so you only rule out things that have all of those tags), that’s not possible.

I am with Nes 100 percent there. I mean really!
