Wasn't a fan of this one. Clumsy from start to finish. And more of a paint by numbers thriller than a horror flick. The noir (double indemnity, DOA, etc.,) device of having the story retold by the pro/antagonist had me worried from the start, and eventually muted the reveal at the end, which I think was kinda obvious.
The video gamer in me perked up at the mention of "holy weapons," but aside from the axe (obvious), the gloves and lead pipe were real missed opportunities!
And who kills their mother in broad daylight in the backyard with a knife? That's one dumb FBI agent ; )

If they had made the "holy weapons" anything but ordinary looking tools, it would have ruined what I felt was the real twist ending (that Paxton's visions were real); as well as changed the tone of the film entirely. It's a flawed film, yes. But I don't think that was one of those flaws.
