I think you can say oh, I just generated a number randomly and picked Dave but you can’t use some sort of proof that you did. If someone else remembers differently, please chip in. I’m 99% sure it’s come up before but can’t find anything offhand.

I was bored and reading old stuff and I came across the game where this came up.

Exactly and that’s a huge part of the game, figuring out the motivations between decisions. By bringing a neutral third party arbitrator in to essentially make everyone’s choices for them it takes away the vast majority of decisions which is the whole central part of the game. This is a game all about trust and asymmetric information knowledge, bringing in outside trusted parties fundamentally changes the entire game.

Partially to clear that up and partially because nobody’s posted anything in nineteen hours and this thread was getting quiet.
