That’s good to hear! I was immediately drawn into this unexpected Priscilla storyline. Of course it happens right after she and Dandelion have been flirting and, like a schoolboy, he asks me if she’d said anything about him. Grim!

Joachim Von Gratz is a total badass. This dwarf carpenter autopsy scene was some deliciously nasty business… had me thinking of Re-animator and The Silence of the Lambs. I love the grisly detail they come up with for Geralt’s close-up investigations. It’s so well-written.

Carnal Sins is one of my favourite quests, yeah. Such a great atmosphere.

I’m holding out for the GOTY edition, assuming they’re going to enhance something because well it’s CDPR and I’ll be surprised if the GOTY edition is only a repackaging of DLC, but when it’s released I’m starting my second play through.

They have been working for a year on various improvements via incremental patches. GOTY edition might have some further improvements but those will just be another patch. I doubt there will be anything super extensive that isn’t already there.

Wow, Blood and Wine really picked up at the end. For most of it I was thinking, “okay, it’s solid content, a slow burn, but I’m ready to be done with this game.” Great ending.

I just unlocked the entry-point to Blood and Wine… Am I right that the best approach is to finish the main game, then do Hearts of Stone in its entirety, then go to Blood and Wine?

Yes, that’s right.

I played another ending of Blood and Wine and now I’m watching a few on YouTube. Apparently I’ve turned off some sort of UI option that indicates the passage of time (“three days later…”). I had no idea. The transitions made enough sense without it I guess.

Reflecting back on this DLC, I like how they focused on setpiece encounters instead of dumping random combat all over the place. Lots of meaningful miniboss fights. And the new raid system is a fun romp too.

What’s the raid system?

Oh, it’s probably a bad name for it. It’s where you attack those hanses with all the enemies.

Christ I spent the last 3 days in Velen, what a depressing place. Such a total masterpiece the whole Baron/Crone questline is. Just this part I recorded:

So good, such artistry in everything…

And even after 270 hours played, I still enjoy the combat very much:

If only I didn’t have to work tomorrow :(

Never gets old.

Hello, Trololo

Trolls are the best.

Agreed!

I think this may be my favourite quest ever :)

That was about 15 minutes of the most fun I’ve ever had playing a video game. Sooooo funny, especially after having ridden Roach around for 100 hours prior to the quest.

Well, I’m intrigued!

I finally got the master blacksmith all set up in Novigrad and for the past couple nights I’ve been hunting down all the Witcher Gear diagrams I can find. I’m almost ready to sail to Skellige… just want to do a few more Witcher contracts first.

Found a scenic overlook last night, and a bonny lass to share it with.

The stunning nature vistas get most of the credit, but how about the incredible attention to detail in the interiors…

I mean, Christ, I can remember when RPG’s did taverns like this:

I’ll see your fancy graphics based nostalgia and raise you a Crowther and Woods :)

YOU ARE STANDING AT THE END OF A ROAD BEFORE A SMALL BRICK BUILDING.
AROUND YOU IS A FOREST. A SMALL STREAM FLOWS OUT OF THE BUILDING AND
DOWN A GULLY.

go south

YOU ARE IN A VALLEY IN THE FOREST BESIDE A STREAM TUMBLING ALONG A
ROCKY BED.

I just went to Skellige eventhough in Novigrad I barely just met up with Triss. I like that it is perfectly possible to do these in reverse order. And I love that little detail that when Yennefer tells me I look positively dashing in Wizima, and then wear the same stuff in Skellige at the banquet, she compliments it again :)

Skellige taverns are the best taverns

Also, mountains

75 hours in, this thing is so huge. Going to Skellige early is fun, lot of contract hunts are quite a bit more difficult than I expected :)
