The XBOX One

  • Side-by-side 2020 launch dates for the new NextBoxes, 1 entry-level with no disk drive, 1 monster for the TruGamers starting at $500 with an even higher price point for a bigger/faster NVMe SSD.
  • Original XB1 and 1S not compatible with new-gen releases, but XBX will run them with some degree of down-sampling. Blame the new RAM requirements or something, but there needs to be a reason for current non-XBX owners to upgrade. Current XBX owners will buy the newest most expensive version anyway, because not having it will bother them.
  • No forward compatibility for current XB1 controllers, but at the same time, no significant differences in the new systems’ controllers. Gotta keep the retail partners happy.
  • A new version of the Elite Controller with the new systems. This time with reliability, we promise!
  • Game Pass titles reaching 200+, expanded play with xCloud to phones & tablets for at least low-latency stuff.
  • Lots of ways to squeeze life out of existing games to finish out the console cycle, Forza 4 expansion, more State of Decay and Sea of Thieves addons.
  • A lot of stuff clearly being held back for 2020.
  • Maybe something about that additional/modified achievement system they talked about a while back?

Wish list:

  • direct support for wireless headsets built-in to the console, no dongles or adapters needed.
  • 4k bluray support stays on the high-end model
  • more than 3 USB ports
  • support for USB 3.1 Gen 2 transfer speeds with external storage
