Video games teach kids Algebra

The eighth-grade math class at Intermediate School 30 in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, sounded like a video arcade on Monday morning as 30 students zoomed through virtual tunnels and zapped competitors with a blue freezing light.

Then all action stopped as an algebra problem popped on screen: What is the slope-intercept formula for points A and B?

Woo, sounds fun! I love having algebraic cut scenes.

Do boys still like games more than girls these days?

Sooooo these are like the games we used to play on Apple II’s in the 80’s except now the crude graphics and text are replaced with 3D graphics?

There’s a multiplayer demo available for download (http://www.dimensionm.com/) Maybe we should have a QT3 tourney.

Are we going to score by age brackets?
