Yeah, I’m in a “tired of combat” gaming phase. Which means I’m going for action games with little, mostly optional combat (Death Stranding), adventure games (Phoenix Wright) and builders (like Factorio or The Colonists).
I’ve been playing Horizon: Zero Dawn however, and it’s been enjoyable so far. I guess the emphasis on stealth and “hunting” over plain combat has made it more enjoyable for me at this precise moment.

I am kind of in the same boat, and I am currently playing Fallout 76 just because there isn’t anything else for me to do. I look at my library and do not see anything of particular interest in it. Looking at the steam store has pretty much the same feeling.
There are titles I am interested in, but they are simply not out yet and seem to keep getting delayed. Then there are a few EA titles, but I really want to stay away from them until they are done.
I really like open world exploration games, but those are so few and far between. A few months ago I spent some time with 7 days to die, but got bored of that. I was waiting for their new patch to come out. I do not know if it ever did.
In any case, once I can’t take F76 anymore, I have no idea what Ill do. The next two titles I am interested in are Evil Genius 2 and Baldurs gate 3. They should be out in a month or two, if they are not delayed even more. However, if if they are not delayed, that is a long time to wait. If you find something cool to play, post it here please.

Have you played Horizon: Zero Dawn? Because that’s one of my favorite open world games of the past 5 years. The basic game play loop of hunting -> upgrade -> explore is fantastic.
7 days to die did release a new patch but I haven’t played it either, just another incremental upgrade so I will probably wait a few revisions before jumping back in. I played a crap load out of the last patch.

Ill put it on my list. Thanks.
Edit: Looking at the steam reviews, its pretty bad. It seems to mostly be around how the game constantly crashes, severe performance problems, and how some major story quests are broken. Maybe it needs a little time in the oven to get those bugs fixed.
I’ve been playing and, apart from a weird “flash” bug that happens occasionally, it’s playable and enjoyable. But I barely got started, and quest bugs are a possibility for sure, so yeah, waiting for patches might be a good idea.

44 hours so far on the PC version with 1 crash that resulted in zero play time loss because it was after a teleport which saves first. Performance is ~60 fps with occasional stutters when its loading in a new area or enemy but for me I found it a non issue.
That’s on a 6700k (with only 3 cores/3 threads because I run through QEMU/vfio on linux), a 2080, and playing at 3440x1440 with DF’s recommended settings. Basically Ultra for everything that matters to me. It’s definitely a core hungry game though, my CPU is more of a bottle neck than the graphics card.
Never seen or heard of a quest bug but I haven’t trolled the steam reviews - that would suck. All anecdotal evidence on my part, but it’s been a ton of fun replaying this game on the PC.
Edit: And Patch 1.0.2 was just released this morning, not sure if it does much since I didn’t have any issues to begin with.

Forza Horizon 4 (Xbox)
Picked up the Ultimate version of this game a couple days ago for $50. I put hundreds of hours into FH3, and I wanted a new place to explore.
The pacing in this game is way off. It takes much too long for the game to even begin to open up. Since it’s a roguelike, as soon as my current Captain dies I’m putting the game on hold till the developer removes or condenses the early game somehow. Apparently that’s in the works to some degree. Hopefully the game will be ready for prime time once it hits 1.0 and leaves early access.

I’ve been really enjoying the new Microsoft Flight Simulator, much more than I thought I would. And more than I feel like I should, given the sim’s many shortcomings, bugs, and unfinished bits. It is, of course, beautiful, which is what it says on the tin, but there’s something in the way that beauty and visual realism draws you into the world, makes you realize how big and diverse our lovely planet is. I’m going to actually join a virtual “fly-in” this weekend, meeting up in the virtual world with some other pilots to fly around.
I intend this weekend to also make progress on my 1.0 attempt to build a rocket in Factorio. I’ve put dozens of hours into “pre-release” Factorio, but have never made a rocket.
This weekend, possibly no gaming. :(
I watched a few minutes of some videos recently put out by Joseph Anderson on YouTube. He does quite detailed in-depth analysis of games. He just released at least three videos on the Witcher series and hearing him talk about it got me really enthusiastic about playing the Witcher games. To confess, I have not played any of them more than a couple hours max. So as crazy as it sounds I was thinking of going back to the first Witcher and playing through it… or at least giving it a shot. So that’s my plan!
My Factorio addiction has reignited with 1.0. Still never made it past green research - I sink a few hours into a base and then restart once my spaghetti gets out of control. Maybe this time I’ll get a bit further - fun regardless!
Since my PC is down, I’ll be playing Fusion Genesis on the 360 and likely Crackdown as well, plus Age of Empires on the 3DS.
I’ll probably play a lot more of Spiritfarer. Since it’s colder here again, I might play a bit more of Horizon: Zero Dawn. And perhaps some “builder” game like Factorio, The Colonists, or Oxygen Not Included.

I hope to be zipping around Syria in a diverse assortment of DCS tools of mass destruction.

Great lashings of Rebel Galaxy.
ArmA3 - Old Man which I somehow completely forgot about. Pretty much the premier single-player experience Arma has to offer.
MSFS2020. Did a VFR hop from some middle-of-nowhere Arctic strip to another the other night. It wasn’t VFR; socked in all the way to 3-4k. Still manned it out though and did a nice landing on the other socked-in strip. Made my chest hairs puff out.

I usually get TO blue research, look at the requirements for it , and then I ask myself, why I am playing this game and give up on it.

Forza Horizon 4 (Xbox One)
This weekend I’ll be driving around Jolly Olde England. After spending a week with this game it’s clear to me that while I’m thrilled to have a new map to explore, and more cars for the money spent, this game is significantly inferior to Forza Horizon 3 on many of the things I loved about that game (clubs, drivatars, convoys, radio). So while I don’t expect this game to have nearly the staying power of its predecessor, I should get plenty of fun out it for the money spent.

Cogmind (Steam)
After wasting a week or so realizing how little I enjoy Approaching Infinity, I got the urge to go back and play another roguelike of mine, Cogmind. This game has so many fun little systems in place that I revel in the minutiae. Any time I get to spend on the PC this weekend will undoubtedly be punctuated with robots.
Dice Throne: Season 2, Box 3: Cursed Pirate vs Artificer (Board Game)
My wife and I have played this twice so far and have enjoyed it. It was quick to learn and hopefully we’ll give another run or two this weekend. If not this, then probably a few rounds of Lost Cities.
Pathfinder: Kingmaker pretty much the whole time, so great.
I try and fit the odd Tametsi puzzle in, but I’ve reached the stage where it can take several days to solve a puzzle now! Also the occasional Doom 64 session, but I’m also at the “you have got to be fucking kidding me” stage of the level design.
