Worst thing you'll see all week: Greyhound

Greyhound, a Tom Hanks movie about an ill-fated destroyer captain trying to protect merchant ships from German U-boats in World War II, isn’t terrible because it’s historically loose and absurdly indifferent to realism.

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://www.quartertothree.com/fp/2020/07/10/worst-thing-youll-see-all-week-greyhound/

Reading this made me think of another take on convoys and escorts (with the appropriate tip to @Brooski) :

“Navitation” must be the sound produced when you plot your position too fast.

You arrogant ass, you’ve killed us!

I’m due for a rewatch, terrible Connery accent and all I love that movie.

BULLETSH

Ah damn it. Usually this warns me away from things. But I got a year of AppleTV+ damn it, so this will indeed probably be the worst thing I’ll see this week.

This is apple tv only right?

Yes…

Straight to video!

I expected a lovable android reference.

It isn’t a very good movie…haven’t seen mister rogers yet

I enjoyed this.

I loved how all the orders might as well be unintelligible gibberish (because it doesn’t matter) and how the relay comms guy is super important, to the point that one mistake during a human error AKA ‘sneeze’ is enough to threaten to replace him. I also like how there are different bridge shifts. The posts are manned by different people depending on the time of day.

The whole logistics of the thing is beautiful.

P.S. I also got a strong urge to drink coffee during the watch
