X Rebirth

Yes. And also, it’s finally running fine on my system, so I will get into it a little bit over the next days.

I finally got up into some dogfights this weekend and had a pretty good time with them. The ship and interface are becoming more familiar and second nature. The performance is good enough for now (barely), but hopefully it will get optimized more so that I can crank up more settings later. I am pretty patient on games like this, though, so as long as they are making significant efforts to improve, I am pretty content.

I do feel that I overpaid, but hopefully it will keep improving and keep going for years with expansions that improve on this new universe. The strategy Stardock used could go a long way here and perhaps calm things down a bit while they keep working. If they release plans to allow more ships to be flown in the future (expansions?) along with other missing features and promise to give them to existing X:Rebirth owners, it might go a long way to getting people back on their side. The way they are wording things with their latest announcements, though, doesn’t appear to be helping themselves.

So here we are a month later and these are still the contents of the weekly patches.

Still no ETA on when “reason to play game” will get patched in, they’re still working on fixing basic functionality. Like being able to reliably use your mouse after loading a saved game. Yea.

I’m going to check in at the 3 month mark. I bet there will be some expanded functionality in those patches. I bought the game, after all, I’d like to get some enjoyment out of it eventually.

Yeah, the patch notes get more depressing for me each time they come out. I figured by now they would have been thinking about adding features and improvements instead of still trying to fix trade ships.

I did one restart a couple weeks ago in Free Play mode as the campaign has issues and had a decent time for a few hours. I went scanning for various salvage and items to build up a little cash and then bought a few new weapons to try and upgraded shields. I then started taking random pirate? missions (the ones with the pirate icons) and did a few missions where you seek out and destroy someone and another where I was supposed to escort a larger ship back to station while multiple waves of enemy swarmed in. Those were decently interesting, but when I wanted to start looking into trade and building ships/stations, it didn’t feel like there was much point with things being so broken.

I haven’t fired it up in quite a while, but want to try again sometime soon. 3 months sounds like a good time to try again to see where they are.

I bought it. I wish I hadn’t.

I’ll take a look in a year, largely to see whether there is any form of interesting upgrade path for ships.

Until they add in some basic AI for your capital ships im not going back in, whats the point of having a fleet of taranis if they won’t move in and attack anything.

It looks great in screenshots!

This is how exciting battles are righzzzzzzzzzz

Anyone know how to get a refund, I tried to follow some stuff, but Steam is not very forthcoming with that stuff?

If you complain enough (and it’s in a short enough period of time) they tend to issue a one-time refund, ever. So if you’ve ever received a refund on Steam, you won’t get another one.

Complain where, here?
Dear Steam, I was conned and I want my money back, I will never play this game nor do I feel waiting the 1-2 year it will take them to fix this bloody mess is worth the 49 euros.

Contacting Steam Billing and Support.

While they in general refuse refunds which is highly legally controversial, I found just a subject in billing and hope they will answer it even if they don’t have a seperat topic for it.

There’s a whole thread on the Egosoft forums dedicated to Steam Refunds. Read at your own peril: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=350757

You tend to have much better consumer protections than we do on this side of the pond.

Yeah, 5 year warranty on electronics rocks, I had two LG monitors break at 3 years and 2 months…and I wasn’t sad about it.

Xmas gift from Steam!! My money back, thank you Santa Steam!

Same, just such a shame how poor this game turned out to be.

Im guessing you both asked for a refund?
