Your favourite game menu music

Oh, and one more: Bruce Lee for the C64.

[fudging the question to include intro movies when “game menu” doesn’t really apply]

Max Payne, Mafia, and Hitman 2 are all very nice.

Ascendancy had really good music. Too bad it failed on the AI.

Thirded on Ascendancy. Great “space” music, cool races, sadly imperfect game.

Unreal Tournament ('99 and 2k4)

Red Alert 2 & Yuri’s Revenge (I still have these going through my head occasionally… )

Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne (Love the piano work.)

Yeah, totally. I’d say that it had the best music in a space game, ever. The score really encapsulated a sense of wonder appropriate for a game about space exploration. And the races were awesome; way better than what we usually get in space games (like MOO’s “these are the cat people, these are the bug people, et al”). And no humans. I liked that.

As you say, it’s a damn shame the gameplay was so totally broken.

One more that came to mind:

Betrayal at Krondor: I remember being pretty impressed with the opening music of this game, at the time.

Mexican Motor Mafia has good menu music and a great title theme. So far, it’s a pretty neat little south-of-the-border autoduel-alike as well.
