A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood - Tom Hanks is Mr. Rogers

Oh, dear god, screw you for putting that in my head. You heartless bastard.

Do you not, want to travel, to The Neighborhood… of… Make Believe?

Guys, if not Tom Hanks, the only other clear choice is Hugh Jackman.

But if they couldn’t get him, then Dwayne Johnson in a pinch.

Children with cerebral palsy. . .never scared me.

CG James Dean.

Paul Reubens

Jeff Goldblum, obviously. Playing every role.

Ohhhhh yessssss, this is likely perfect.

Stephen King.

We’re going to the land of make believe, children.

Forever. We all float down here.

I saw this yesterday with the whole family and we enjoyed it. I wasn’t expecting it to be quite so inventive with how it merges the show-within-a-show with the adult drama stuff. There are some good songs too with Nick Drake, Cat Stevens, Tracy Chapman, and Fred Rogers.

Good watch:

I too rolled my eyes at the idea of a Mr. Rogers biopic starring Tom Hanks.

But it’s good! It’s even good in a way that jaded artsy folks can appreciate. There’s one (very) quiet scene in particular that I hope to remember for a long while.

A good rental! Enjoyed this quite a bit, even if it was a bit slow in pace.
