The United States is officially a real civilization in Age of Empire 3: Definitive Edition. Microsoft, Tantalus Media, and Forgotten Empires just added the new faction to the game..
You can also unlock the civ for free by doing this 50 States challenge, but the unlock requirements are pretty grindy, so the $4.99 for the DLC looks worth it to me.
Keep in mind, it takes at least17 days to unlock the United States of America.
You can only do 3 challenges a day, I believe.
I think the “war of independence” was a english civil war. With the american and european factions divided.
USA not a real civ, but just “New Ulster”.
