Antihero - Qt3 League

Haha yeah pretty much. And then when you do fight your way out, you find out this is what’s happened to your city.

This whole league was worth doing just for the last few posts.

Thanks and good game to you. Scouting is extremely helpful, but it can be really hard to take turns out for it.

What a tense game against @Otthegreat!
It was an all out war, and I was lagging behind both on the money and the victory points (he had taken a 3 points early lead!). Meanwhile his feral (3 attack points!) master thief was wrecking havok. I then decided to bet it all on the good old thugs, after spotting their abandonned den next to his base, and using the totality of my college knowledge to assess that if I boosted them to have 4 life points, my brutish hordes wouldn’t be one-hit-killed… That totally tipped the game over, as displayed earlier. Phew!
6-3 for me.

@Dave_Perkins - Season 1 Result: belouski > Ananab Tilps, 6-1.

2 assassinations, 2 heirlooms, a bribe and a blackmail. We both had a church, but I had a bank and an estate funding my urchin empire. Dave came in late with a truant office and cleared out my two trading houses, but I’d already gotten an heirloom by that point and leveled up an Orphanage. Good game!

That was a crazy game! Well earned victory! The problem I had is that my master thief could kill everything you brought out for a while, but once you started hiring more than one thug/gang a turn I couldn’t keep up. Losing one of my three thief actions every turn because I had to constantly attack kept me back a bit too; but I really felt like I was losing control when your truant officer packed off most of my urchins in a single blow. Between that loss and your super-thugs I basically lost control of the city at that point.

Omg! It can be that one-sided?! I’m doomed…I already made a mistake. That’s how cascades begin, right?

Oh it sure can, but it took more than just one mistake on my part and some wonderful aggressive play from Left_Empty to get there. Most of the game was a pretty crazy back and forth and I think it could’ve gone either way for a while there.

I’m starting to really like this game.

@Dave_Perkins - Season 1 Result: belouski > @robthomasson, 5-3.

Rob was up 4-1 or even 4-0 and I thought I didn’t have a chance, but I was able to evict his urchins from his church, and get all three Bribes, an Assassination (Rob had 3 Assassinations) and Blackmail my local church.

Terrific game Rob! You could actually take Charity and then buy a Bribe a few updates ago. If that was still the rule, you would have another turn or two to turn things around.

Another update but I haven’t read the patch notes yet.

They added a new Live gave, with turn timers. It is Random only, and the dev warned the currently small player-base means you’ll likely want to coordinate with a friend.

Saves were unaffected.

I am quite busy at work so probably will only get one turn per day and probably in the late evening.

I charged on headlong against @belouski and got some early points before the weight of his nefariously crafted infrastructure stopped me in my tracks and won the day for the badder bad guys.

As usual - he played a nicely judged game and provided “learning moments” …

@belouski’s the boss.

Thanks!

I recall my Subterfuge notes on you last year:

God, Subterfuge was a great game, but so, so stressful. If I remember correctly, you won most of the games we played, so that would make you the Bastard Killer.

That was the only game I played of it and you won! You were fed a lot of specialists if I remember rightly. Gah, I loved it but it was incredibly stressful. Worth the L2 Clearance to play properly but not sure I’ve got it in me to play any more. It also made Blight hard to go back to without order stacking.

This is one game where I usually learn that I lost in the thread before I actually see it in the game!

@Dave_Perkins - Season 1 Result: @robthomasson > @lordkosc, 6-3.

This one just seemed to flow to me - courtesy of two Trading Houses close to my home. The Lanterns gave me 3 Bribes and I managed 2 Assassinations plus a Blackmail (because I could).

lordkosc had 2 Assassinations and a Blackmail … and 16 Gold at the end plus he was spilling Thugs across the streets so I probably managed to finish it just in time.
