Yeah, they need post-campaign Diablo style additional difficulty levels. Want to add a skull to every mission? Or two? With rewards commensurately increased, that would be cool.

Goddamed game and the crashes.

Happened again, this time, after selecting the salvage.

edit: There’s a pattern to these crashes. It’s always post mission.

So, what was the Newgrange about then?

BBB, your question is answered fairly quickly as you play the campaign.

I tend to take longish detours to go mech hunting.

I just took on a 3 skull mission which sandwiched me between a full lance and a group of vehicles.

vehicles are annoying.

I lost 2 pilots but got myself another Thunderbolt, and a Black Knight, and then the game crashed…

edit: but autosaved post mission…so my Black Knight is intact!

Game has it’s hooks in me.

edit: There’s just something wonderful about finding a new mech on the battleifeld. I just encountered a Victor, which at 80 tonnes is the first assault mech in my game.

Also wonderful, jump jetting to the rear of the enemy with your mech decked out with lasers and SRMs, and having enough morale to call a shot. rear cockpit at 62%? Thankyou very much.

Edit, onto a new priority mission:

Arthu. And Arano insists on joining me. Why can’t she tag along my lance instead of occupying a space in it? Goddamed it woman I have a Black Knight, a LRM Orion, a short range Orion, 2 short range Thunderbolts and a slightly less short rangeThunderbol. All good, solid, heavily armoured mechs that can take a serious beating…and she wants to join me with her Kintaro? This should be interesting.

edit: And it was interesting.

I got a free highlander out of it, and I scavenged a Zeus!

My first 2 Assault mechs. This should prove interesting.

edit:

Yeah not bad. I got to say, I felt a bit let down by her performance in the Zeus, BUTTT…that was epic the way she came out of the elevator and the Taurians crapped themselves.

I do wish they’d get to the database stuff to speed that up. That’s my only lingering complaint. I can even deal with spending xx minutes while my ship goes through xx jump points as I can read or do dishes during that time. But with the sluggish selling and managing your mechs, it just means a lot of waiting with your hand on your mouse gripped in anticipation while fueling your carpal tunnel. I know… just let go of the mouse! LOL.

I find that the sluggish database issue mostly arises if I play for a long time; restarting the game speeds things up at least a bit.

BBB: You may have already noticed this, but Lady Arano can hold her own in that Kintaro. The only problem is that you have to watch the heat.

This game is such a strong foundation for add-ons and expansions. I really hope they are able to turn this into a monster if they all pull together as a team.

Pink Floyd reference?

Yep! Just was running through my mind at the time.

By the way, which 'Mech is Pink?

Fabulous Urbanmech?

Heh. If you get the graphic glitch, all of them.

So, I am finally up to 5 assaults mechs, and I can start to field them all.
Sadly, one of them is a Banshee, and I am just not sure about it. Right now I have a BattleMaster as my go to melee character, and I am not sure if the banshee is a good replacement, despite having room for 6 small lasers.

Traveling to Pinard in the Taurian sector. Home of Giant Radioactive Frop Bogs. 🤣

Do you guys keep spare mechs that are designed for certain situations, like hot or cold environments, or do you always just use your best 4?

Just my best four at this point, but then I just got my 4th assault mech. That might change in the future.

Not really for most of the game, but I just got an Awesome. That mech runs very hot when firing the three PPCs every turn. I’m considering keeping it as is and reserving it for cold environments, but it might be wiser to reduce the heat a bit and just keep it out of missions in hot locations.

I really like the time investment required to repair and modify the mechs, but it unfortunately greatly reduces the experimentation during the campaign.

I’ve mostly been going with a standard layout of 2 heavily armored jumping close range sluggers up front and 2 moderately armored ground bound missile boats in back. In theory I could see varying the heat levels of the mechs by terrain but not yet. Need more assault mechs.

However, here is my custom version of the Highlander you get in the campaign, modified for maximum slugger power. This mech has been just owning since I built it, with at least a couple of mech kills per mission.

Oooh, that looks nasty.

Can I ask why you put all the ammo on the right arm? Since you have no location specific equipment in the torso and the head, wouldn’t it make more sense to stash it all there? That’S what I have been doing, since I figure that the mech is done for anyways once the head or torso is gone.

The ammo can explode once damage is inflicted on the structure of a region, but before the region is fully destroyed: strip the armor off, blow the ammo. My view is that ammo in the torso is just asking for an ammo explosion that kills your pilot, whereas losing an arm, eh.

I have lost many arms to ammo explosions, but never a whole mech to an ammo explosion. Meanwhile I routinely make the enemy mechs pop like popcorn b/c their ammo is right in the middle.

Oh crap!

We wish to reassure all mechwarriors that, contrary to what enemy propaganda would have them believe, this company has NOT been sending them into battle with ammo located in the most dangerous location. We take waste of valuable company resources very seriously and would never jeopardize them in this way.

La Direction

Are you sure about that, because I have never had an ammo explosion without that section being completely destroyed. Although I think I did it to enemy mechs with their MG ammo.
