Brian Fargo is returning to the Wasteland for a third time

The far left choice gives you a target marker. Then you can throw or shoot at, essentially anyone or thing. That does not guarantee anything. But I threw a snowball at a scorpitron. It froze long enough to allow me several more shots. Of course, YMMV. :)

And…now I agree with what you said about The Tellurium Mine

They have announced there will be DLC.

Bad luck. After saying I was free of major bugs, I’m heading into the finale and now no one can shoot and my party stands around with the classic t-shape avatar. Animations are messed up (they just move in that t-shape) and I’m unable to progress since only melee seems to work, and sometimes pistol shooting. Trying a few things to see if I can get it back in business; it was fine last night so perhaps just a temporary glitch. Gah, unfortunate time to fail.

[Edit] After attempting a repair, restarts, changing graphical settings and the like, it just needed a good ole fashion system restart to clear it up. Was able to finish up.

Patch 1.1.2 is out.
Highlight: “reducing load times by up to 60% on PC and 25% on console.”

Patch notes

Highlights

  • Do you hate long load times? We hate long load times. Our engineers changed how the game loads levels, reducing load times by up to 60% on PC and 25% on console.
    • As one example, on our PC test hardware a 38 second load time was reduced to 13 seconds.
  • Fixed an issue where combat could become unresponsive with use of the Chain Ambush Perk for sniper rifles.
  • Resolved several progression blocking issues in Yuma County Speedway.
  • Enemies are now much less invisible after use of Precision Strike.

Performance & Stability

  • Significantly changed how levels load, resulting in up to 60% faster load speeds across the game on PC, and on average 25% faster for consoles.
    • Note: your hardware, save data, and which level you’re loading into can all impact load times. Your mileage may of course vary.
    • As part of this change, auto-saves will no longer occur as a part of the level load, and instead happen concurrently. This can lead to situations where you’ve loaded into the next scene but an auto-save is still in-progress. Don’t close the game while the Ranger star is spinning.
  • Major Prasad will no longer crash your game if you exit while she’s still talking.
  • Additional stability and performance improvements for consoles that were too technical for the person writing these patch notes to understand and explain easily. It’s good stuff though. All good stuff.
    • We’ll be continuing to target and resolve specific stability issues as necessary.

Co-op

  • Players can no longer attack companions that are in the process of being recruited by the other player, in case your partner likes to troll.
  • Fixed an issue where the Guest client could become unresponsive when talking with Hope Emerson and choosing to side with Del Hackett and her people.
  • Improved stability while in the Hire Companion screen.
  • Players can now use the keyboard in the lobby screen to choose game type, options, invite player, and ready up.
  • Enabled UI Narration in the Direct Connection interface and for multiplayer game messages sent through chat.
  • Fixed an issue with voice chat text-to-speech and speech-to-text.
  • [Microsoft Store] Resolved an issue where guests couldn’t rejoin a lobby they’d just left.

Quests & Gameplay

  • Resolved an issue where quirks could become unselectable during character creation.
  • Fixed a potential blocker with Medical Marvel not allowing revival without use of a Nitro Spike.
  • Resolved a rare issue that would block you from speaking to a companion.
  • The door in Yuma County Speedway leading to Liberty is now unbreakable as intended.

Misc.

  • Fixed minor graphical issue with the radio.
  • Some cinematic characters have been given microdermabrasion treatments and now have better looking skin.
  • Skill levels for recruitable characters now display properly in all cases.
  • Mission status should no longer display incorrectly after quest completion or updates.
  • Resolved issue where the spinning Ranger Star would permanently stay on screen after saving the game.

That’ll be nice.

I’m currently in Denver, heading back to the Gippers after talking to the machines.

Patch isn’t out on GamePass. Having recently completed my first go through, the only thing there that stands out is the load time fix, which is pretty good for a game early on.

Aside from a couple hitches in the overall outcome, I think I must have managed one of the more positive endings. And whoa, I loved the music throughout WL3. It was amusing to realize I knew the lyrics for the songs when the tempo and style was so different.

Load times are amazing. Maybe 5 secs at the most for me. As this is, ::knocks head::, my main issue the game has gotten that much better.

Edit: Just did the cannibals. Got some useful stuff. Just pissed off that there was a full suit of power armor. That looked good. But seemed to be missing some parts. Fuck that noise. Let me bag it and tag it and take it home to fix up. :P

About dang time, the loads were insane.

How long for you now?

And you might as well discuss the girth as well.

Fucking fusion turrets! Where the hell did they come from? Two fusion turrets and a scorpitron? Very nice. Bastards.

I gave up on Wasteland 2 shortly after starting; it just didn’t grab me at the time. But I am really enjoying Wasteland 3 and thinking of giving the second one another chance after I’m done with it.

Would I be better off just going back to W2 and finishing that first? Or are they not directly related?

How many of you have tried playing the game in coop? How fun is it?

(I’m mostly interested in it for that, since I’ve loved playing through Baldur’s Gate 1/2 and Divinity: Original Sin 1/2 with friends.)

I haven’t played Wasteland 2 (though I did Kickstart it and own it, I just never got around to it), but in Wasteland 3 you go to Colorado, and there’s some references to previous adventures in Arizona and other places that I assume are from Wasteland 1 or 2, but it doesn’t affect my game much in Wasteland 3, which is pretty self-contained for a newcomer to the series.

No need to play WL2 first, although it is worth playing afterwards. You may miss some of the improvements in WL3 though.

Still no patch for the Win10 version. Maybe on Monday. Unless the developers are taking Columbus Day/Native American Day off. In which case, maybe Tuesday!

Are you talking about 1.1.2? It’s live for me on Steam.

Yeah, the Win10 version is always a day or two behind Steam. Normally I don’t care, but the reduced load times is something I’m really looking forward to.

(I do own the Steam version too, but I’m playing the Game Pass Win10 version for the Xbox achievements).

You are going to love the difference.
