Oh God, she’s the worst. Parry Mason. I died a lot more to the body form of Tsorig, but he had a gigantic freakin sword and she just had a little rapier…how bad could it be…

I couldn’t muster up the desire to fire up the Ringed City this morning, so I made a character in DSR and ran him around the starting area for like 15 minutes, and in that time I think I heard the Bell of Awakening like 5 times, so I guess yeah, some people are definitely still playing.

I have found a new lease on life by cosplaying Gael:

I stole your face, and now I’m coming for your soul.

Those Hollow Clerics and their soul sucking spells are sure a pain in the ass.

So how’s it going with Lothric @krayzkrok?

I’m heading into town shortly to go run some errands, including picking up a new 360 controller. Like I said, mine has been on the way out for several weeks and DS3 has killed it! It still works fine, but the analog sticks are sticking and the rubber has come off, and now the third-party rubber “caps” that I put on there 2 years ago just aren’t working anymore. There’s a GAME store that still has some original ones for 30 bucks…

So I probably won’t get any time this evening your time, perhaps we can try again tomorrow!

Sounds good.

Ok, I admit I looked up how to show my humanity. How the flippin fuck is anybody supposed to figure that out on their own? This DLC is kind of sucking the fun out of it for me. I may not continue.

Well I would say the worst of it is behind you if you got to the FINAL swamp bonfire. Also the NPC quest for Ring City is really easy to miss as you really have to explore every area but totally worth it.

I finally got to the end of the Cathedral. Man, that was so great. Another completely unique boss fight. At first it looked a little hopeless after the first couple of tries. But then I switched to my Astral Greatsword, and swing in big swings, which was much, much better in that situation. The fight reminded me of Living Failures from Bloodborne, but thankfully wasn’t even a tenth as hard. Phew.

I got my little doll.

But instead of going back to use it, I went in to fight the Demon King. Wow, now this is a tough fight. I used the souls I got in the previous boss fight to buy the pyromancy spells for giving fire damage to my weapon and the spell that adds to attack after consecutive hits. But if I’d known I’d be so vulnerable to fire in this fight I would have bought that sweat spell that gives me fire resistance. Phew. I’m getting warm and sweating just thinking back and typing this.

Time to sleep. The Demon King can wait for another day.

Yea, that fight is made for a greatsword. It is an easy fight unless you take to long. The priests eventually start using dark magic that can really do damage, so the faster you win that fight, the better.

Yes, actually I found the prospect of giving up even more unpalatable than continuing, and found another bonfire and a shortcut and now have possibly only (insane, ridiculous) boss fights remaining. I attempted to engage a certain gentleman with a taste for darkness in melee, but I was unsuccessful. I think I may need to farm for a full quiver of Dragonslayer arrows first.

Don’t quit. But don’t let the place and a few of the fights wear you down. The final boss fight is very good, probably among the best in the series. Think about the first time you fought Artorias. It is different, but the first time you fight Artorias you can’t believe how quick he is, how he chains those moves together but eventually you learn and beat him. The final boss in this DLC is really that good, harder though. :)

I am currently sitting at the bonfire at the bottom of the stairs, and I admit if I could just fast travel to the final boss I would. But there is an NPC to visit and a church to kill in, so I will continue.

I have actually never made it past Blighttown. This is the first DS game I’ve completed (although I did Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne first).

Next time you try DS1 (didn’t you just get DS Remastered) I can tell you how to avoid Blightown. And Artorias is legendary.

You really only have two boss fights left. One is a Demon Souls homage, the other is just badass but fun.

Is he 4-legged?

Correct. On the bridge.

Weird. Artorias is a beloved boss from the first games DLC. The Final Boss to Ring City has a similar vibe only more so.

The hardest boss of the DLC and…arguably the Dark Souls series at large, is optional and in a hidden location.

I was originally thinking of someone later on but realized you hadn’t quite got that far.

Is that the location you need to “find your humanity” for? I should know this but have forgotten. I have never even beat that boss with summons or as a summon. But I have seen the boss beaten on youtube.

I actually didn’t find anything that way but a phantom and a monument.

If I am thinking of the right place there is a another hidden wall, but usually there is a message to give it away.
