Management has a new thirst: Liquid Morkite. They are sending you in alongside an On-Site Refinery to fill. Locate the Liquid Morkite wells and hook them up to orbital-insertion industrial Pumpjacks, connect them to the refinery by building huge, winding pipelines, and pump those deposits dry! Oh, and the good people down in RnD even felt generous enough to build in a handy way to use the pipelines for quick, easy, and SAFE* traversal.
*Check the clause 3.15 of your contract to read more about the company’s definition of “safe”.
This new Assignment serves as a crash course in how to safely complete the new missions and make it back alive - and will reward you with some fancy new headwear on completion. What’s not to love?
Attention, fashion freaks! The new fall collection has just dropped with a beautiful selection of new Beards, Headwear, and Hairdos! 27 new Cosmetics have been added to the Shop, 11 new Cosmetics can be forged with Matrix Cores, and 1 new Headwear will be rewarded by completing the new assignment.
If you really want to rough it up, the new Roughneck Pack has you covered. Spice up your looks with four new sets of unique armor (one per class), new helmets, and new Paintjobs. This pack is squarely aimed at those that can’t be bothered dressing up as a space marine, and just want to get stuck into the hard work at hand! Finally, show off those figurative guns - as well as that choice selection of tattoos you’ve kept under wraps for so long!
On top of the Armors, the pack comes with two unique helmets, as well as a new Paintjob for Bosco and your Pickaxe.
DRG just invested in a better Assignment Board. Enjoy a fancy and more intuitive layout as you select your next assignment!
CONTROLS: When carrying gems and other heavy items you can now throw on both [LEFT AND RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON] on PC or [LEFT AND RIGHT TRIGGER] on XBox. We made this change to accommodate the Fuel Canister (used in the Escort Duty mission) which is carried like a gem but also has functionality like a weapon or tool. In the future we could imagine having you find other tools and weapons that could be used in a similar way.

New dwarf-shouts have been added. Primarily focused on the new missions of course, but we’ve also been doing pickups for missing Laserpointer shouts, and added several new Rock and Stone shouts to the mix as well!
- Gunk Seeds and Ebonuts used in some of the Secondary Objectives have gotten more lights added to them, making them easier to spot in the dark.
That patch is still 9 days away right? :(

It’s in experimental branch, that’s why they put it out there.
I was on a team with some higher level players, might try it solo though.
Update 32 drops on October 22nd.
I’ll wait to Update 33 to come back, it’s supposed to have some new biome.

I did the Escort Mission first time Solo Hazard 3 in the Dense Biozone as a Gunner and well…
The mission was…very tense. Going in blind I almost lost, and it was also an explosive infestation, and worst yet Molly actually bugged out halfway through the mission and no longer operated. It remained stuck in a fixed position and didn’t answer any summons. I was able to still deposit items in it but it never moved from its position.
So when I called the Dropship I thought that was it. Time would run out, the ships gates would never open because Molly remained stuck 140 meters away, and I would be left to die.
Turns out at 10 seconds left on the timer the dropship gates auto-open no matter what, with or without Molly boarding, and you can escape. I had no ammo and was just rope sliding over enemies having Bosco and the mech friend (who I had to kill, but once repaired joined me) destroy everything until then.
I need to play this more - so many games and so little time!
The Eternal Truth
So I think the On-Site Refining mission can be ‘logistically challenging’. You have to lay down pipe and it can be a bit finnicky, but I applaud the devs for doing something like this. It totally fits.
I only got to play a little last night. Dropped in on some friends doing a refining mission during the last part. I didn’t get to lay any pipe but I did grind and pound a lot of pipe. There were a lot of double entendres.

Did a solo mission to learn the ropes and not be the weakest link on the team, when I co-ops later.
A team engineer or driller are musts as you gotta get a path in place to lay the pipe.
Some more observations On-Site Refining.
So the veins where you need to build the pipes toward don’t show up on your map and must be scouted so you don’t build in the wrong direction, but you can always deconstruct pipe segments in case you mess up, but this opens up the idea of someone on a team building pipes to nowhere. However, you can also place the extractors on the veins prior to laying pipe to have a visual reference on the HUD when marking.
And you have to build three separate pipe routes and their orientation on the platform relative to the three veins should be considered to be the most efficient.
Also only one person can lay a new segment on each pipe route at any given time. Whoever frobs the end point first. I played a game where the pipe layer kept changing hands (probably because the other two pipe routes were already complete) Optimally one person lays the pipe while another builds the pipe.
You can route pipes through a drillers tunnel or on top of engineer platforms which is pretty important on complex cave networks. This is probably the most team composition critical mission type in the game.
The vast bulk of the mission is setting up the pipe network. Once you start the refining process it is just a matter of repairs as bugs actually attack pipe segments and stop the process. Multiple pipe segments can be damaged along a single route.
One of the cool things is you can ‘grind’ on the pipes for automatic movement similar to riding zip lines except pipes can go up and down and turn. Fun.
