EA has purchased Respawn

Heh. Yeah, they did that after making Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Left and made Infinity Ward. Then they did that after making Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, left and made Respawn. Though they might have burned some bridges at Activision in that move.

A Titanfall RTS with a planet-based meta map game?! YES PLZ.

I get it’s Star Wars, but I can’t imagine any EA Stars Wars game can be that lucrative considering the Mouse is going demand his cut, and if it’s anything like what’s Disney is demanding from theaters, it’s gotta be a hefty one.

VentureBeat posted an interview with Vince Zampella and Patrick Soderlund, executive vice president at EA, about the Respawn acquisition.

Yeah, it’s more like a $315 million deal, but there are $140 million in potential bonuses that can be earned.

They should hire me to write headlines for them. I bet they’d get a lot more traffic if it was “Respawn hostage not allowed to talk to media without EA minder present”.

Some Titanfall people have left Respawn and headed back to Infinity Ward.

I have no idea what this means, but I prefer Titanfall more than anything IW puts out.

Shit.

I wonder how this will affect the Star Wars shooter they’re making.

At a guess: poorly.

The right hand gives while the left hand takes:

Not interested in Bioware people. Give them back!

I just hope Titanfall 3 doesn’t suffer due to this.

Everything’s gonna be all right. Hey, totally different subject, you like loot boxes right?

Is that the guy who was in charge of mass effect Andromeda?

Titanfall Online, canceled.

Asia-focused = nothing of value was lost.

Good. Maybe they can focus on Titanfall 3.

Not so fast there, buckaroo.

"There are some people who think there are too many battle royale games or it’s a fad, the world thinks we’re making Titanfall 3 and we’re not - this is what we’re making.

"We’re doing a free to play game, with essentially loot boxes, after we were bought by EA, and it’s not Titanfall 3.

McCoy’s answer also confirms what many already suspected: Titanfall 3 isn’t in development, and Apex Legends is its current Titanfall focus.

First linked by @MrTibbs over here, but I didn’t want to derail the Apex thread in my desire to shit on EA acquisitions:

Well I’m crushed.
