I really think if you get over that direction-less early game it begins to click nicely.

Planning to play a bit this weekend in my shiny new Cobra MK3.

Great ship, the Cobra Mk3. I’m in an Asp Explorer now, but I have fond memories. Also going to try to play a bit later tonight, Pacific time (in MobiusPVE most likely).

The Cobra is the ship the game is built for/around. Its the gold standard to which all the others compare. Some jobs, only a cobra can do well.

As vehemently as I have been defending the game, it’s been giving me one hell of a cold shoulder the last few times i tried playing :( See, i’m flying towards the center of the galaxy, the black hole at sagitarius A*. The stars come real thick out there in the center of it all. This fucks with the route planner. It fucks it up completely and utterly. The game chokes up trying to compute a route, but there’s just so fucking many possibilities! argh! poor thing. Anyway, the game handles this very badly. It goes into full lockdown. I had to kill the process a couple times just to be able to try something different.

So I tried computing multiples of my jump range and plotting routes that take an exact multiple of that in order to cut down on the possibilities. This is said to work fine for people according to the frontier forums. Well, it dont for me and its pissing me the fuck off.

Anyway, perhaps I need to plot shorter bits, or be more precise with the calculations. Theres plenty things left to try. Cant be that it works for some but not for me.

I too have an Asp right now, but I love the Cobra so, so much. Some of my favorite memories in the game involve flying one. Our last meetup put me back in the saddle of one and it was so fun. I died a lot, but hell, it was cheap.

How far into the game should I be able to buy a Cobra? I was going to play around a bit more this weekend and see what I can do.

You should have, I feel, at least a million credits before you buy one, so you can properly equip it, but that’s just me. It’s so fun to fly when properly equipped.

In most cases I would agree, but the Cobra is so fast even at the base level it enables you to escape just about any fight you do not want to be in, so maybe an exception for it?

A base Cobra is still super fun to fly and fairly speedy, so yeah, why not I guess? ;)

Looks like I have my work cut out for me!

It’s worth saving up for, trust us. Such a wonderful ship.

I upgraded to a Cobra but I really miss my Viper. I guess I’m still trying to play the game like I have a Viper.

Is trading rares still a thing? That sure gave me a leg up financially when I was still in a lowly Hauler.

As far as I know it’s still a thing.

I hope so. That was how I funded my Cobra. Just went for a quick spin out of George Lucas station and docked again. Will play so more tonight.

What are people doing these days for finding trade routes? Is it still websites and 3rd party tools? I didn’t notice anything when I was in the game earlier. I did see that they improved the ship outfitting a bit.

I think that’s still pretty much it, unfortunately. At least now, you get some idea of where things are normally bought and sold. If you wing up with people and trade, you supposedly get an extra bonus on your profits.

This is a really nice photo AAR from a spearhead strike against an Imperial capital ship by Federation rebels.

Thanks for sharing! That’s pretty cool.

How many ships do you guys keep concurrently? Do you sell when upgrading? I have three atm (my Lakon Type 6, Cobra Mk3, and Viper Mk4).

I have the Cobra and a Viper MkIV as well but I’m hoping to trade both in for an Asp Explorer as soon as I can afford it.
