I have to confess that other than the first serious Godzilla reboot in which they killed Bryan Cranston too early in the movie, I’ve really enjoyed these movies. I was especially tickled by Kong Skull Island and Godzilla, King of the Monsters. Godzilla vs Kong was fun too, just not as much as those other two.
Godzilla vs Kong was so batshit crazy, that is was awesome. I’ll check this out.

That was Kong Skull Island. My favorite as well. I hope the director eventually finds his way out of trouble down there and makes movies again one day.

They are an acquired taste, much like Tom’s bad movies. Kind of like MST3K Gamera. Like @Rock8man said if they are not goofy or stupid in some way it kind of ruins it, though most of the new ones have some great CGI fight scenes. Most of the directors who take on these movies embrace the goofy with the epic battles.

Really a bad naming strategy going on here.
I grew up with the Toho kaiju movies and I’m still in awe that there’s now a big-budget version that goes all in on the silliness of monster brawls. Three-headed dragon included. I was about to write that I give them at least one more movie until aliens get introduced, but then I remembered that they already established that Ghidora is not of this planet, so they’re technically already there.
As Rock8man noted, the 2014 Godzilla is largely ‘grounded’ and serious compared to the ones that followed, and you don’t see the titular monster a lot until the last act. The second one gets bonkers pretty fast and doesn’t hold back on the mythic element of it.
Because they’re multiplying the two of them together.

I hope the next one will be Kongzilla vs. Brundlefly. With optional appearances by aliens and/or predators.

What if this is a romcom? Godzilla and Kong started off their relationship at the wrong footing last movie, but in this movie we see them understanding each other, through various funny circumstances, and becoming a couple at the end?
I’d pay good money to see this romcom. Extra if there is actual copulation.
