Here I Stand Forum Game: The Thread for the Aforementioned Forum Game of Here I Stand

Oh right, good call.

Ok, so the Papacy now shifts attention from the heathens to those rumblings coming from Germany, and calls a Papal bull, excommunication that meddlesome Luther.

Then we select two random debaters for theological debates:

image

Not the greatest result, but we’ll take it. Since the protestant has used his HIS card, Luther can’t come in to help, so that’s 5 catholic die rolls vs 4 protestant die rolls.

Risky… Doing the rolls now.

** Papacy rolls 5 d6: 4,4,4,2,3
no hits
Rolling protestant
** Papacy rolls 4 d6: 1,1,3,5
One hit
Protestant wins
Campeggio tries to nullify the result
** Papacy rolls 1 d6: 4

@Tom_Mc your turn, and you get to flip one space from this debate to start with

Hello,

I chose Nuremberg but there is some other bookeeping we need to do…

<Tom (Protestant)> - OK we should take care of some housekeeping here

  • England and France are now At War.

<Tom (Protestant)> - set France and England to at war

<Tom (Protestant)> - for my space I will take Nuremberg for the debate win.

  • Nuremberg reforms.

  • Protestant Spaces: 11

<Tom (Protestant)> - However we do need to have the Papal player play Papal Bull for the event from his hand.

<Tom (Protestant)> - uploading so we can have the Papal player do that before Prot impulse.

  • Logfile written.

right now it should go back to @Juan_Raigada to play the Papal Bull card and then back to me for Prot impulse. We handled all the effects of Papal Bull the game just doesn’t have it registered as played. If you select it and hit play for event you should see it not go to the main discards but rather cover your ruler card. I think this is how the module handles it and should be able to clean up for the next turn from there.

Done, I can’t believe I forgot that click.

Over to your 4th impulse, @Tom_Mc

Ok impulse done back to @Cuthbert but was out of cards so to @CF_Kane.

Germany seems to be getting the right idea here:

  • Protestant plays City State Rebels for 4 CP.

<Tom (Protestant)> - first 2 cp will be to Publish treatiseusing my last uncomitted debater Carlstadt to grant a bonus space here in the German Language Zone.

  • Carlstadt is committed.

<Tom (Protestant)> - 1st target is Kassel

<Tom (Protestant)> - 4 prot spaces plus 1 for press. versus 1 defending catholic space

** Protestant rolls 5 d6: 6,4,6,1,6

<Tom (Protestant)> - six had been rolled

  • Kassel reforms.

  • Protestant Spaces: 12

<Tom (Protestant)> - 2nd target Mainz, 2 space plus press attacking versus 3 defending catholic spaces

** Protestant rolls 3 d6: 6,4,4

  • Mainz reforms.

  • Protestant Spaces: 13

<Tom (Protestant)> - 3rd and final target Worms. 2 spaces plus 1 stack plus press versus 2 defending spaces

** Protestant rolls 4 d6: 4,4,6,6

<Tom (Protestant)> - six was rolled as well

  • Worms reforms.

  • Protestant Spaces: 14

  • Protestants +1 VP, Papacy -1 VP.

  • Papacy score: 16 VP

  • Protestant score: 4 VP

<Tom (Protestant)> - spending last 2 cp for 2 more attempts by publishing treatise again

<Tom (Protestant)> - targeting Augsburg

<Tom (Protestant)> - It’s 2 attacking spaces versus two defending. Innsbruck over the pass doesn’t get to apply.

** Protestant rolls 2 d6: 3,1

** Protestant rolls 2 d6: 6,2

<Tom (Protestant)> - catholics keep it.

<Tom (Protestant)> - I do not beleive I am allowed to challenge the same space again so I will go to cologne. Attacking I have 2 spaces and a stack. defending there is 1 space

** Protestant rolls 3 d6: 2,4,6

  • Cologne reforms.

  • Protestant Spaces: 15

<Tom (Protestant)> - impulse over

The Barbary Pirates begin their reign of terror on the North African coast. Coincidentally, Charles V announces a naval construction program at Cartagena.

(I played the Barbary Pirates mandatory event, which allows Ottomans to begin piracy (when they have cards again), gives the Ottomans control of the Algiers key space, and places 2 regulars, 2 corsairs, and the Barbarossa naval leader there).

Over to @CraigM to play or pass.

I will pass once more (I will probably play again thr is turn, but not right now)
@Panzeh

I’ll go ahead and take my free pass now. @Juan_Raigada

@Panzeh, you cannot pass if you have more cards in your hand than your admin rating. Rules Section 11.

Passing: Late in the Action Phase, powers may pass for their impulse.
Powers may never pass if:
• Their Home card has not been played,
• A Mandatory Event is in their hand that has not been played, or
• They have more cards in their hand than their ruler’s Administrative Rating.

Got it. Working out my turn now.

France plays Mercenaries Bribed for 3 CPs. Francis I takes all of the regulars in Milan to Modena for 1 CP, flags it for 1 CP, marches onto Florence for 1 CP. Independents take cover in the fort. Done. On to @Juan_Raigada

I use the Leipzig debate home card as an event, calling a theological debate with Eck as the attacker.

Game chooses Bucer as defender:

image

So that’s 7 attack die vs 3 protestant die.

Rolling now…

Catholic roll first
** Papacy rolls 7 d6: 1,2,6,5,6,4,2
that’s 3 hits
Protestant rolls
** Papacy rolls 3 d6: 6,6,5
And that’s 3 hits…
Ok then, a tie, so new round

Second round.

game selects

image

So that’s now 5 vs 2.

Rolling…

Catholic:
** Papacy rolls 5 d6: 4,5,5,6,6
4 hits!
Protestant:
** Papacy rolls 2 d6: 3,6
1 hit
hat’s a differential of three. Aleander special skill allows it to flip 4 spaces and Carlstadt is burnt!

This is the new state of Germany:

File uploaded, over to @Tom_Mc

Damn, RIP Carlstadt.

But also, yay for piracy!

The pope is having a hell of a turn.

Man it’s bad enough enough when you burn books but now we’re on to people.

I had a 1 cp card and advanced New Testament translation.
<Tom (Protestant)> - Nothing too exciting here I have only a CP left

  • Protestant plays Arquebusiers for 1 CP.

  • German New Testament progress: 3

<Tom (Protestant)> - Advanced New Testiment to 3

<Tom (Protestant)> - Protestants out of cards and will be auto passing now

Hapsburgs pass. @CraigM

England will choose to play Cloth Prices Fluctuate

As Calais and Antwerp are controlled by England and Hapsburgs respectively, we each draw 1 card. I place 2 mercs,1 in London, 1 in York.

@Panzeh

(also tagging @CF_Kane as this impacted him as well)

Thanks!

France plays Search for Cibola for 2 CP.

1 is used for Francis’ force to assault Florence.

  • Launch an assault on Florence. 3 dice for troops, 1 for Francis, vs 2 on defense

** France rolls 4 d6: 2,5,4,4

** France rolls 2 d6: 4,4

1 hit vs 0 hits, France takes Florence

Francis then uses the second CP to buy a mercenary in Paris. Impulse done. Next up is @CF_Kane and the Hapsburgs.

Hapsburgs pass. @CraigM.
