Yeah, I was just confused because I recall the reviews being pretty bad, but then the chatter in this thread seemed positive, so I wondered if I’d mixed up my Cthulhu games.
I finished Vampyr , and it was alright, but not great. Just good enough to keep me playing till the end. I suggest putting the difficulty on easy.
I will be subbing again this month for the rest of the games and probably give Vampyr away to a friend.
Given the lukewarm reviews of the games I was interested in (both here and on Steam), I decided to pause. I have enough in the backlog already, and something tells me I’ll have additional chances to pick up Vampyr, Cthulhu and Genesis in other bundles down the road, probably bundled with other games I’d be more interested in too.
This is the state of gaming today, Humble Choice remains one of the best deals in gaming, but it’s not always going to appeal to everyone every month, and there is nothing wrong with that.

My first reaction was to pause immediately. Then people got me thinking about some of the games and I figured maybe I’d stay in. Played some Railroad Corporation - had a good time and wondered if I really need a handful of games that will probably be hit or miss. If @lordkosc came back and said how great Vampyr was maybe I’d be all in :-)
What’s Wargroove like and is it a good single player game? I don’t like the art style, but can get over that if the game is good.
None of my friends stuck with Call of Cthulhu stuck with it for more than a handful of hours. I did like the Cyanide Game of Thrones RPG well enough, so maybe this would be good.
Little Big Workshop may be interesting.
I have Autamachef (on Twitch) and like it so it wouldn’t be bad to have on Steam, but I don’t really need it.
Through the Darkest of Times, American Fugitive, Hello Neighbor - eh maybe.
The Coma 2, We Were Here Together, A Case of Distrust - probably not

Another dud month for me, since I already have the couple of games I’d be interested in. They offered me the $4 coupon for not pausing this time, and I initially accepted to take another look at the games, but decided that I didn’t want them even at $8. Interestingly, the coupon seems to have stuck around on my account even after completing the pause, and says it’s valid until Nov. 6.
Thats right, always remember to attempt pausing, in hopes of a bribe coupon!
I’ll try that tonight. :)
If you know Advance Wars at all–the console wargame–that says it all. Otherwise, I’d describe it as a wargame that is light by PC strategy standards, but still quite deep. It is made up of a series of unique scenarios you move through as the story progresses. The UI is pretty slick, from what I remember, and although you may not care for them if you don’t like the art style, the characters were interesting and fun, in a kind of JRPG way.
I know it’s random per person but, in the interests of providing a data point, I did not get an offer when I tried to pause. However, I did get a $4 off offer last month when I almost paused (because I owned nearly all of it) but then bought in (because Railway Empire for $8 was good enough for me).
Last time I tried to pause (a couple of months back) it didn’t bribe me with a coupon but with a $2 price reduction on the current bundle. What are those bribe coupons good for? Any Humble Store purchase?

No, just a month of Humble Choice. I just thought it was noteworthy since for me in the past, it’s been an instant discount on the current month’s bundle, so having the option to use it on the next couple months is a nice change.
Just paused. No bribe for me this time.
Gosh, third pause in a row for me. I rarely paused over the past year, but the past three months aren’t lighting my fire.
I think I have this figured out now. When people are saying it’s awesome, I should pause. When people are saying it’s a pass, that’s a good time to buy. :D
This month looks awesome to me.
Different strokes I guess. Last month was awesome for me, this month, totally meh.
My pauses has usually been of the “I have the main good game, so the secondary good game isn’t good enough and the random shovelware doesn’t count”.
But like this month being only average games that I’d never actually pay even close to sale prices for and vampire + Lovecraft, $12 isn’t bad at all.

I’ve been paused since February now, mostly because the interesting games have already been on Game Pass, and none of them have been good enough warranting a permanent buy.
I thought last month was awesome too. There was a time about maybe 6 months ago where it kept being very blah but a lot of games were standing out to some people here who are really down on this one.
I’m just kinda talking anyways, I don’t mean to sound like a downer.
Ditto, but it’s all down to what you like. Last month was a cornucopia of fantastic strategy games but if you don’t like strategy, it’s not going to be of much note. This month is… actually I have no idea, I’m barely aware of most of these and the few I am would be classed as “Janky Horror RPG’s” I guess. The “horror” part puts me off more than the “janky” really. But hey, different strokes and all that.

I pretty much never pause. Humble was my replacement for my WoW subscription, so I just accept the $12 and hope there is at least 1-2 worthwhile games in each. And I thought the actual game was a big Steam library…

Why? Twelve dollars is twelve dollars. Just set a reminder on your phone to pause each month, it’s easy.
