Any RPG I ever played that has expendable items I end up with a huge amount at the end that I never used.
This is one of my favorite things about Gloomhaven - âconsumableâ items get replenished every scenario, so you should absolutely use them all, just a question of when the best moment in the particular scenario is. Which, yes, still might trigger the hoarding impulse, but worthwhile opportunities invariably abound.
We get it Nintendo, you played TearawayâŠ
I love these short turn around times between announcement and release - very refreshing! Hereâs a short showcase of the Origami Kingâs turn-based battle system:
Nice! I loved Paper Mario, but I didnât bother with the DS/3DS games due to many reviewers stating those were different games than that one was. Less RPG more platforming or something.

Elder Scrolls Blade was just released on the Switch. How is it? Not many reviews out there for it even on other platforms.
I avoided playing it when it first hit mobile because every review I read about the game was pretty much in line with the idea that it was an okay Elder Scroll experience completely hampered by its free-to-play monetization scheme (like timed chests and reliance on expensive space bucks).
I have no idea if theyâve ever adjusted that aspect, but this article says more or less the same thing as all the others at the time:
FWIW, the first related article says they got rid of chest timers:
I am not a mobile gamer at the best of times and had zero interest in the launch experience people were talking about, so thatâs all I know about it.
I played the mobile version for a few hours. It struck me as a simplified city builder with a microdungeon minigame loop to gather resources for building and XP for leveling your character. It was mildly amusing for a short time, but by the time the punitive microtransactions reared their head Iâd already lost interest. If youâd have told me they were removing all the microtransactions for free you still wouldnât have stopped me from uninstalling it.
With the last Paper Mario game the consumable moves were even more broken because you could farm the good ones via Amiibo. What a mess.
Well at least yâall are making me feel bad for not digging deeply into PM after Thousand Year DoorâŠ
I finally got my hands on a new Switch but hoping you guys could answer this question (Google wasnât definitive): can you play Minecraft online & join the same servers/worlds like Minecraft PC? Iâm on the fence if the Switch is good for my daughter but her being to play online would be huge. Thanks.
Yes, Minecraft on Switch is cross platform so you can play online together with all the other platforms.
You do need a Nintendo Online subscription, and a (free) Microsoft account.
I think the Java version of Minecraft (the oldest one) is kind of an island compared to the others and wonât allow you to play with them. If you have the Windows 10 version, it should allow cross play.
To clarify, thatâs a yes and cross platform as long as youâre talking about the âBedrock Editionâ, which is also whatâs on iOS, Xbox, and available for the PC.
The Java edition is still available on PC as well, and that is slightly different (maybe more mod support too or something?), thatâs not cross compatible with the others. So you just need to make sure you have the right PC version.
Hereâs the official answer for reference:
Mac, PC, and Linux are all the Java edition. Realms for Java are Java only. These use Mojang accounts to login.
Almost everything else is Bedrock edition. Realms for Bedrock are Bedrock only. These use Xbox Live accounts to login.
Windows 10 can do either Java or Bedrock.
There are a few oddball versions on older platforms that are only compatible with themselves (Vita, PS3, new 3DS, WiiU) and no longer supported.
There are more standalone versions which were replaced with Bedrock versions on various platforms (Xbox One, Switch, PS4). The standalone are no longer for sale. If you purchased them you can still download and use them - but you also got a separate copy of the Bedrock version for free.

I guess I better pay for Nintendoâs backup service. Which angers me, because that really should be free.
And because I need to get it off my chest how stupid I was and so others can mock me: I wanted to get a screenshot off of my Switch to show someone. Turns out you canât without Twitter or Facebook. So I just shoved the SD card into my laptop without thinking about it. Except the Switch uses Micro SDs and my laptop has a full size SD card readers. But the thickness is close enough that the thing wouldnât just fall out. No amount of shaking or fishing with a paperclip would work. I opened up the laptop, and ruined the SD card reader (I will never use it anyway) to get it out. Put it back in my Switch, but it wonât read it. Pulled out the SD card and the top half just broke off. Guess I damaged it in the process.
Luckily it appears saves are all kept on the main systemâs storage even when the game was on the card. So I donât think I lost anything important. Just to be safe, I better pay Nintendo. Bastards.
I canât believe Iâm playing Final Fantasy XII on a portable!
Backlog, I curse thee and I love thee!
Nintendoâs backup system isnât that great. Yesterday I had to deal with tears after I informed my children that their Splatoon 2 and Animal Crossing data was gone. Both games donât use the cloud saves feature and they are stored on the internal memory of the switch.
My switch has been dead about 6 weeks. It doesnât charge. I replaced the battery but it still wouldnât charge. It looks like there is some damage on the USB-C port. It isnât under warranty and Nintendo isnât do repairs right now. I was finally able to buy a replacement switch after setting up alerts on NowInStock. The new switch wonât even accept the SDcard without reformatting. I also had to make my new switch âprimaryâ so that my children can play the games I bought digitally. It occurs to me now that I can fully charge the battery in another switch and swap the battery to the dead switch and transfer the data somehowâŠbut I donât think Iâm ready to go that far.
In all, Iâm very annoyed with Nintendo and wish they would enter the modern era and be a bit more consumer friendly.
And there isnât any transfer function of ACNH data, even if you have the two systems together. Itâs locked to the console, pending a still theoretical future update
