Racing games - GTR, Race07, Rfactor, etc

So Automobilista 2 has perfectly modeled English weather.

It’s wet! It’s dry! This bit is soaked but it isn’t raining!

Our Racing Dorks season in the WTCR cars continues apace as we just crossed the halfway point. We finally got the AI Spectator Director working too, so we can record the races with a viewpoint that automatically moves between cars when there’s some close racing happening.

Race two of each event we run is a reverse-grid race based on the finishing positions in race one and with the top eight championship runners carrying “competition ballast” to slow them down, it can get pretty congested. The AI Director did its best to keep up…

After not having one for years I ordered a steering wheel which will come next week. Super excited to try it out as I’ve been in a super gaming rut. I grabbed the T150 Pro as anything more than that for how much I would play would likely be overkill. I’m going to stick to single player games for now, but I do think I would like to try online at some point.

Sorry for not posting much, but I’ve been busy with sim racing

Just finished a very fun Historics season using AC. It was Ford Escort RS against the Alfa Romeo GTAm. I drove the Alfa as the engine sound was pure sexy. The Alfa had a bit better top end and brakes, but the Ford (sounding like a washing machine) was faster in the corners/corner exits.

I’m also live stewarding the GT Rivals series in ACC. We have the pro drivers from the SRO Americas series (formerly Pirelli World Challenge) and other pro racers racing against a few sim racers and other VIPs. Here is the last weekends race. The finale is this Sunday.

Got my setup in the mail today. I have a ton of racing games already so I’m going to try those out first. Dirt Rally 2 is high on my list to try first. Haven’t had a proper wheel in years. The pedals that came with the pro version are very nice. Still a lot of plastic but way better than anything I’ve used before.

Grazt! I hope you have fun with the new gear!

Thanks tried it with GT on the PS4 and after adjusting the settings it works really well. For a budget wheel I don’t have any complaints so far. Pedals are nice and the force feedback seems good. Now that the of is free I’ll try some of games.

I need to stick to one game this weekend and get used to it. I tried like 4 different games and each one has settings you have to much around with to get it to your liking. Think I’ll stick with PC2 for now.

Assetto Corsa Competizione is going to be free to try this weekend.

Oh snap. I wanted to try that. I was a bit scared of the older one because it seems there’s a big mod scene. I tend to forget to actually play the game and spend more time modding.

Any idea starting when? Wanna get the download going ASAP.

Read the dummies guide just now and I think this will be way over my current skill level. Which doesn’t mean I won’t check it out this weekend, but I won’t go anywhere near online.

Darn, I wish I had a working steering wheel!

Not worth buying one right now. Too many IRL car parts to buy.

Wheels are expensive and hard to come by right now. I got lucky to find one at retail price. I would have gone with a better model if it weren’t so crazy right now and could have found a deal.

The what where?

Found it on the steam community. https://felixdicit.com/guide-acc-for-dummies/

Nice overview of the game. Sorry sim!

Nice, thank you. If there’s one thing I like even more than playing games, it’s reading about them!

Edit: uh oh

Your 5-year old Intel i5 might run Doom Eternal on medium to high settings with a constant 60 FPS, your processor will feel wholly inadequate calculating the physics and AI in this game.

Ya I saw that part. I can max out most games right now so a free trial would be a good test to see how it handled my computer.

It just kicked over to free for the weekend btw. Will download it in a bit, but can’t try it until after 5.

I think ACC is the best overall sim right now, but its very specific for GT3 cars in the SRO series.
