This has shown up on a bunch of end-of-the-year lists as a great action film starring Donnie Yen. I signed up for a 7 day trial of Hi-Yah so I could watch it. The plot is entirely forgettable: a bog standard cops vs bad guys setup involving a hackneyed revenge scheme. But the action actually is pretty exquisite: a setpiece involving a shopping mall, an exhilarating car chase and the final shoot out and fight scene are all really good.
You had me at Donnie Yen.
Seconded, I am always up for whatever Donnie Yen has going on. Even if it’s a Star Wars movie.
God, yet another streaming service? Have you Donnie Yen fans all seen Kung Fu Killer? I liked that one much more than I expected to.
You can also rent this one on Amazon for $5 or whatever. I figured I’d check out Hi-Yah and watch for free. There are a few other things I might watch over the next few days on there: Hydra, The Swordsman etc
