Rock Band for PS2?

I’m also a cheap PS2 bastage, but I learned my lesson from the GH3 jerks. Insane save (not load) times was the breaker, but it looks like it’s a PITA to get all the RB instruments rolling properly?? or is this just for the even cheaper bastages that want to skip the bundle and use old instruments/mics only??

That’s the boat I’m in. I don’t yet own a Xbox 360, so $50 for 3-player PS2 Rockband may be worthwhile even if I end up repurchasing it a year down the road for a better console. I realize you can’t have a rock band without a drummer, but I’m looking at this as “Guitar Hero Plus.” Given the popularity of Singstar with some of my non-gamer friends, I suspect it would go over well as a three-player experience.

Wait, what does it mean that “the singing position requires a controller port?” I own SingStar for the PS2, and the microphones plug into my PS2 USB drive. Does the lead singer need a microphone AND a controller for some reason?

I may actually pick up RB for the PS2, seeing as I may already own 3 of the 4 instruments. Is there any plan to sell the drums individually? Is the game missing something critical if your band doesn’t have a drummer?

Really drum are what takes this above Guitar Hero. Also, SingStar still requires a mic and controller. As do the PS3 and 360 versions of Rock Band. Not sure what the big deal is.
