Star Citizen - Chris Roberts, lots of spaceship porn, lots of promises

Replace Iron Man with Deadpool and this is sort of what actually happened.

#7496

Oh man imagine if they didn’t back down from the “pay to watch the stream” fiasco.

#7497

That was very funny to watch: “they put the one thing I hate the most … commuting and put it into my game” LOL

and some of the comments are great entertainment too

I respect your video, but you’re totally wrong. WTF is there to show in space?! Only ships and space dust. Seriously, what else is there to show in space? I disagree, personally I really like the direction they are taking. In a gaming age where everything is instant gratification, someone is finally trying to do something different. These trains will be everywhere, so it is not wasted time as they get more systems out. Also, most Orgs will only occupy one system or possibly even a planet, you better make sure there’s enough time or space to separate people with such a big community. This is the type of game where one mission will take one hour at least and you won’t finish the game over a weekend, ya know… Like all those other shitty games. Longer missions means less repetition because more random shit could happen along the way. We have a major problem these days where games are too predictive or too quick to finish. This direction CIG is taking solves both of these problems. Expect this game to be deeper than Eve Online because you not only have travel time between jump points but shit to do on planets. So let me ask again… What else is there to show in space other than ships?! Nothing… THIS is what the game will be times 150. There is no more development to do in space. They will just need a bunch of artists from now on. Your impatience is clouding your sense of judgement. Think about it, what ELSE IS THERE IN SPACE OTHER THAN SHIPS? Space stations… come on…

I don’t have much either, I guess I’m just tired of seeing cutscenes and after all these years want to see what progress they’ve made with the actual game.

Some gameplay, perhaps?

#7499

I think at this point, Roberts should just make a bunch more really cool cut scenes, and cobble them together and make a full-length movie out of them.

It would only take, say, a year, and something would be done, and it would get people really excited for the game. And an Academy Award wouldn’t hurt either. Also, additional income from ticket sales.

#7501

All these worlds are yours, except space. Attempt no development there.

#7502

Seriously, my senior college teams would get reamed for presentations as poorly managed as these, and for vertical slices as crappy as what seems to be coming out of the Star Citizen goat rope.

#7504

Thats what I wanted all along :P Wing Commander 4 was a movie interrupted by gameplay.

#7505

This is the entire series, not just 4.

#7506

True, but only one I had on DVD with my DXVR2 card.

#7507

What is love? What is life? What is thought?

None of these questions have any absolute answer. In the end Release is what you want it to be. All you need to do to have the full Star Citizen experience is to believe it enough, and you will find your Release.

#7508

A warm puppy.

Life is pain, Highness. Anyone that tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something.

Who wrote that question?

#7510

Well, now you’re making want to go pop that in the movie player. You got me.

#7511

My job here is done. :)

Donations to the crowd-funded space combat video game, which has been in development since 2012, spiked on Wednesday, the day Cloud Imperium Games issued a three-minute trailer for Squadron 42 from CitizenCon 2018. Roberts Space Industries (the parent company) reported $379,254 taken in on Oct. 10, plus another $600,000 over the next three days combined.

Putting that in perspective, Star Citizen took in $692,406 seven weeks ago, its best in the past two months. The project’s lifetime funding now stands at $195,768,020. Star Citizen is the most crowdfunded venture — video game or otherwise — of all time.

#7513

Really.

I’m in the wrong friggin’ business.

#7514

Yeah, but you aren’t facing lawsuits either…that I know of. :)

#7515

There are a lot of stupid people.
