Star Citizen - Chris Roberts, lots of spaceship porn, lots of promises

LOL!!

And a 4 year history of missed deadlines.

  • edit: Suppose I should’ve seen the videya and not just the thumbnail, good one :)

Wow. Brutal.

Those are just some super effective counter-measures.

This is so sad to see the ordeals the significant others have to go through because of some ‘doomed’ hope. I mean, sure, I have my own irrational spending at times, but I do it within my means, not taking funds out of a planned vacation or something. Behavior like this will definitely strain relationship and cause a lot of arguments. Sad!

Makes me feel better about the fifteen bucks on average I throw at World of Warships each month.

How are you enjoying the lolsome Shark-Eagle competition right now?

I hope you’re on Sharks.

Shark, yeah. All the people I play with are Sharks. I have no idea what Wargaming was thinking of. The Eagle side mascot is ugly, the camo is ugly, and it’s a game about, um, ships, where most of the players hate carriers and aircraft. Doh.

Oh god. I almost did a spit take at “I absolve myself of that”.

I am not sure if it is more mind-blowing to me that he said it, or that they wrote that, or that they kept it in after editing.

That video (the headlines one) moved a tad too fast for me to comfortably read everything (damn bifocals), but I think I got it all. It’s pretty hilarious in a sad sort of way.

And yes, the moment of self-absolution ranks up there with great moments of clueless hubris.

For projects like this time is your best friend until it becomes your worst enemy.

I don’t know if you invented it, but I love that phrase! You win the jackpot for today.

I’m laughing so hard, I can’t breathe. The latest controversy takes the cake and unmasks what we already knew: it’s totally P2W

So, if I’m reading those things right, this limit on in-came currency refers to currency you can only buy, not earn in-game? Or what?

You can use real world currency to buy in-game* currency. You used to be limited to $25/day of currency purchases and something like $150 total. Now you can buy $25/day every day. You can’t actually really buy anything useful with in-game* currency because then people wouldn’t give them real money for pictures of renderings of spaceships.

The have claiming that you’ll be able to buy spaceships with in game currency for a while, but somehow it keeps just missing patches. I mean that is the kind of technology that should take years to figure out anyways. No game has ever featured the ability to buy a spaceship with in game currency instead of an external website.

* there is no game

Gotcha. The soap opera continues to deliver!

Their response in that Massively Op article is fun

Another thought re: ‘Pay to Win’ – what is ‘win’ in Star Citizen? We have challenges and gameplay for everything from solo players with just an Aurora to a huge org. crewing an Idris.

They have a public ‘schedule’ now that goes to Q2 2019, the Idris doesn’t even show up on that schedule. Best case it’s still a year out (I wish there was a market where I could put huge money on the over), yet they talk about it in the present tense like it actually exists.

@lantz no bookie would be foolish enough to take that bet.

Yeah, it’s weird how they already have the mechanics and in-game shop for it, and which they use to sell cosmetic items, the insurance ship reclaim UI etc.

They know that the minute they allow backers to use aUEC in the PU to buy/use ships, their funding is going into the crapper. That’s why they have yet to implement it. In the latest July studio update, they claim that they are still working on it.
