Sorry, yeah. I meant $800,000,000 as in eight hundred million more, but typing out all those zeros was tiring, and anyway I can’t even grasp the concept of working with that much money.
But anyway, my point was that this project as currently speced is absolutely doable for a grand total of one Billion dollars (US). Hence the Saudi prince I referenced above. Based on what they have achieved so far, it is my contention that they would need one billion dollars (US) to pull this off.
Oh, and I almost forgot: They’d also need a new man in charge.
Roberts, like myself, has no concept of how to effectively spend this kind of money.

I’ve sampled the SC program a bit more that usual in the past couple of weeks. I had taken a few months break from any SC after the 3.2 release that was all about Mining and had nothing new for me to do (actually broke the minimal mechanics that I could do with my simple starter ship). And another break after 3.3 dropped (which was cool to explore at first) after I ended up with a common glitch of a “box” attached to my legs that was still present no matter what I tried…
I believe the latest PTU release is 3.3.5g. And since I was allowed into the testing of 3.3.5 about a week ago I have noticed no decrease in performance compared to the previous “release.” In fact I’ve experienced a noticable increase in performance. And because 3.3.5 also included the fix for my “companion cube” issue, I have not gone back to the LIVE release of 3.3 since.
Here is the thing… I have definitely noticed an improvement in the SC program’s performance with each of the last three or so “releases” (with various results in the test releases they call the PTU that I have NOT been able to say correspond 100% to the eventual LIVE release of anything).
So, back to the thing… I’ve seen the improvement of SC from “release” to “release,” okay? But then I fired up Witcher 3 again a couple days ago and was totally blown away by just the cut scenes, tutorial, and journey to the starting game play area of that game. If I scored the opening moments of Witcher 3 at “10” then the whole SC experience is currently, at most, only a “2.”
And then there is still no game to play. It is only a sandbox.
I’ll say. Nena did fluffy Euro-pop. Nina came out on stage in nothing but a leather bustier, stuffed with oranges she extracted and threw at the audience, all of whom were half-lit from the half-dozen beer tents around the arena.
