Star Citizen - Chris Roberts, lots of spaceship porn, lots of promises

gee, what happened to OCS + NBC?

This was basically a blatant cash grab that’s going to come back to haunt them. Again.

Jalopy in space!

$200m

I can’t imagine the free flight event not blowing up in their faces.

It feels like a desperate move to me. As in “ignore the near future consequences to focus on the ‘money right now’ part”.

You think?

Wow, we can play the same broken missions with different scenery now!

Yes - that’s exactly it. Even the most devout and dedicated backers know this. They have two yearly events coming soon. The anniversary and holiday streams. Both of which, like CitizenCon in Oct, are major whale milking events. They know that they’re now only getting money from the few remaining whales. So they’re trying to use this shitty 3.3.5 build - because it has Lorville - to attract more broken-brained gamers dumb enough to give them $45+

It’s going to be amazingly hilarious. And it happens every time.

Quit spreading FUD. OCS and NBC are working perfectly. They are now implementing Object Container Un-Streaming and Network Bind Un-Culling which will solve all of these problems and make the game perfect for 3.4 in just 2 weeks! No one has ever done OCS or OCuS before so of course these things will take time.

Indeed. I forgot about the supa sekret build which makes everything work :)

When it works, this is what Star Citizen looks like. If you’re into site-seeing with zero gameplay of course. In expensive chariots.

Meanwhile X4 is in alpha and looks great. Always a good idea to wait with EgoSoft, but it looks like they might be back on track.

I hope so. I was so disappointed in X:R and while I heard it eventually got better, it was far too late for me to want to go back and give it a shot again.

Isn’t X4 releasing at the end of this month? In order to get it out so “quickly”, they must have raised… 500, 600 mil? ;)

Yeah, I apologize, it is farther along than alpha. When I last checked on it, it was in alpha and looked great. I’m just so very tired of this strange sham saga that is SC and wanted to steal its thunder.

So odd that Sean Murray got death threats – the furor over NMS was so vicious and cruel – and Roberts, author of a massively more impactful scam is able to waddle around with little backlash.

Yea, looking forward to that one.
X:R was… well… not a X I wanted.

Yeah, I’m hoping X4 fares better than the last one. It’s still single player though. :(

Personally, I’m glad for this – while understanding why someone would want the MMO version. :) It’s about the atmosphere for me, mostly. To be honest, the thing that has me most worried about X4 is that they’re keeping the first person walkabout bits from Rebirth, which really highlight the limits of their resources and their weaknesses in general.

Is there a X4 thread here? I don’t see it.

I bought some of the X3 games on a Steam Super Sale many years after they were released but haven’t ever gathered the energy yet to learn it.

Not realistic gravity. Mo-capped Star Trek actors throwing themselves around.

Realistic gravity… In a space game… As like when you can walk around (on the “floor”) in a spaceship that is in space like in every space game/movie ever?

Well except in 2001 where they showed the use of magnetic boots. And maybe many more games/movies?

I thought it was accepted in the space game/movie genre that the occupants must be able to artificially create the acceleration field of gravity in a local area such as onboard a spaceship.

If not, I think all of our lives are without meaning.

I feel like the clip was cut short. Where’s the part when they try and use the elevator to get out of the ship they die or glitch and fall to the bottom of the map?
