I have paid about that for very high quality socks from specialty manufacturers like Solmate, though admittedly I have bought them from people doing Dragonboat when a portion of the price went to that worthy group. The socks, by the way, like their hats, are incredibly comfortable and durable, and really good looking. My wife loves them as well.
Game design, yes. This is pure consumer capitalism. As I tell my students in our Game Studio (well, and everyone else too), while there are things about the game industry that are unique to it, in the end it’s still built on the same principles of selling consumer commodities as any other creative media business in the modern age.
Yeah, I’ve paid that for merino wool snowboarding socks.

For all the talk of jpgs, Inside Star Citizen has just released a look at 3 cool new moons created with the latest tech in about a month.
It also has a tour of the soon to be released Carrack. It’s a lot of ship and it looks awesome.
There are actually a ton of fully flyable ships in the game already.
Is it easy to crash these ships?
It does look fantastic, although I would have hoped for a more stable framerate than that. It was pausing and hitching all over the place. (I’m speaking of the outdoor shots with all of those rocks. The indoor shots appeared smooth.)
But hey, at least they didn’t try to hide it, which I’m sure they could have.
And at 7:08, the faucet layout is confusing.
One sink has hot on the right and cold on the left, while the sink next to it appears to be opposite.
And yeah, I’m nitpicking now. :)
Everyone knows that cot is on the left and hold is on the right.
