Is she, or maybe she’s a genius? I say that because marketing is the one area where they seem to really be kickass. It surely isn’t the software development side.
She’s definitely not a genius but an accomplished grifter if you followed the bungling controversy early on. I believe she started as a determined stalker while Crobbers was married to someone else.
He tried to pull strings when he was in Hollywood to get her to headline a movie but only got the odd direct to video schlock made before she joined in on the SC grift scam by being appointed VP marketing after taking credit for others’ initiatives and being largely absent.
She had zero training, qualifications or experience in marketing - anything. All that work was done by the real marketing (I knew all of them) folks. She was just the face and mascot of it all - and she needed a title because of that whole keeping nepotism under the radar thing.
Yup. They hated me for exposing. And the shitizens were up in arms saying that it was untrue etc. Then they finally came out. Many lols were had that day. She’s a board member because she knows where all the skeletons are buried and croberts isn’t dumb enough to mess with her.
This week’s Inside Star Citizen was pretty cool. That is, if you don’t mind a developer (Turbulent’s CTO) taking about development processes and the persistent entity streaming technology.
It was interesting to hear how development has progressed since the prototype mentioned in the Letter from the Chairman in May.
This is the technology that will, among other things, give us basins filled with persistent abandoned ships and plushies as soon as the players get their hands on it. :)
I’m not sure a bunch of pre-rendered cutscenes, environment pans and asset/model porn constitutes much if a leak, seems more BAU for CIG. I don’t think there was even any gameplay in there, from the quick scrubbing I did from my phone.
They had their yearly CitizenCon event today. It was just streaming again instead of in person. I guess that they led off with a bunch of updates about the moss textures that they have been working on for a while now.
Yeah, CitizenCon started with an planet tech artists panel. This was never going to go into gameplay or be of interest to everyone. Though I have to say, it did make a lot of people excited to visit Pyro.
ObsidianAnt used the footage to create a look at planet tech in Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous and No Man’s Sky:
The “Road to 4.0” videos were a lot more about art and design than many would have liked. The 2 I need to catch up on are those on the new flight models and power management in game. I got both my flu and COVID vaccine this weekend. I was too busy being feverish, sick and hallucinating to keep up with SC videos :)
But then again, those were mostly design talks about things not in game for a while. As is too often the case with SC. Still, what I heard of them sounded interesting at least.
Every time there is a spate of updates and imagery from this game, it stokes the fires of “wow, that could be so cool” and hints at the amazing potential of the idea. No question about it. Sadly, in my dotage I have become far more enamored of working systems, relatively bug-free gameplay, and clarity at the cost of complexity than I am of pure potential and flaky, hit or miss brilliance.
