Texas Continues to go off the rails

I wonder what problem state Republicans have with Houston…

Oh.

I just received this spam text as well.

The only thing I miss about Austin is Torchy’s. God I love that place.

Otherwise since I moved all I see in the news is a near daily reminder of why leaving that shithole of a state was a great idea. Possibly one of the best ideas I’ve ever had.

A child’s education is between the parent, the teacher and the local politician., to paraphrase Dr Oz.

I love this in the replies:

can the military court-martial him for this, or something similar?

I’m confident these new powers will be wielded in an even-handed and judicious manner.

This will be challenged in court. I guess maybe SCOTUS is ready to rewrite the doctrine of separation of church and state at this point?

They could just decide that nobody really has standing to challenge it, I guess.

I would be surprised if they don’t try to add the bible to the list of required reading.

Wouldn’t a parent of a student have standing?

Yes, I would think so, but I also think that there could be least 4 votes on the Court for the proposition that nobody is really harmed by the presence of a copy of the 10 commandments on a schoolroom wall. No injury, no standing.

No, no, they meant the TEXAS Commandments:

  1. Thou shalt have no God before the Rich
  2. Thou shalt not have Books
  3. Thou shalt not question the Rich and Powerful
  4. Thou shalt not work when there is Football on TV
  5. Honor thine politicians and their donors
  6. You shall murder those who look different from you
  7. You shall only commit adultery if a politician or rich person wants it
  8. You shalt not complain if the Rich steal
  9. Thou shalt bear false witness vs any woman or person of Color
  10. Thou shalt not covet the Rich’s possessions

I mean, Rich is a pretty cool guy.

I don’t feel this dissent is getting enough love.

“I should have the right to introduce my daughter to the concepts of adultery and coveting one’s spouse,” Litzler said. “It shouldn’t be one of the first things she learns to read in her kindergarten classroom.”
