Never played EQ. In WOW leveling was called dinging. In Asheron’s call too. Or since that was over 9000 years ago, I could be wrong.
It was indeed, but “ding! grats” is uniquely Everquestian. That’s where it came from. In EQ it could take dozens of hours to get a single level, particularly in the “hell levels” where the devs fucked up the XP curve so they took twice as long as the rest, so it was a real achievement.
