Yeah, that’s what I did. Level 40 is only about 5 levels lower than the character with the issue anyway so that worked out fine.
Good to know. Just remember, there is at least one side quest in which you buy dyes from previous regions of titan quest, which you can’t do with the new character. So, you’ll need to use your old character to buy all the byes.

I reached the turtle areas and am almost past them with no real problems. So I consider this character a lot more viable than the Hunter/Dream character who had so much trouble with those turtles.
I reached Delphi last night.
One weird thing about starting over is how few ingredients I have. Grim Dawn changed their ingredients a few years ago where there are no partial ingredients anymore. I wish Titan Quest had done that too.
Yeah, its a bit of work, getting them all and then matching them.
Eventually, I made a few level 40 characters just to carry all kinds of items that looked cool. I know there is a mod, but the system works for me.

Is it true that the targeting is shitty on xbox? Can anyone confirm?

I can confirm. Yes, the target is chosen at random and you can’t change it. So basically you have to move your character to compensate. For instance, if it’s a target you don’t want, and you’re using magic or bow, put yourself in front of the target you actually want so that they’re in a direct line between you and the target the game chose for you randomly.
It’s bad, but I have adapted.

Hmmm. Sounds painful, thanks for the confirmation.
I’ve attempted to play this game at least 6 or 7 times over the years and never make it past the 2nd region/area. Not that I don’t like it, I just always get distracted by something else and I guess it’s not compelling enough to go back to. Yet, every few years I try again so I must like something about it. I think I really need to try a new class combo - I ALWAY go with the Ranger/Storm, maybe that will keep my interest up.
Was tempted to try the Xbox version but reviews haven’t been that kind. Last week though, I bought my first tablet on a whim (Galaxy Tab S7, got a really good deal on it) and tried out the Gamepass like service they have and downloaded TQ.
Actually plays decently with touch controls, though I need to try it with the Xbox controller (also tried streaming on Gamepass - kind of cool to continue my Yakuza Like a Dragon and Wasteland 3 playthroughs on the kitchen table or bed. Don’t know why it’s never occurred to me to try that on my laptop).
I’m loving my Soothsayer. Past Delphi now, haven’t died, and I’m just chewing through enemies between my wolves, death chill aura, and plague.

My Ternian attack Spirit/Earth Conjurer continues to have a mixed time. This is still the only ARPG I’ve ever played where the difficulty is so all over the place. As an alternative weapon, I’d been using a spear and shield, because using Ternian really drains my mana quickly, so I have to keep chugging mana potions in order to keep attacking, which gets tiring.
Anyway, I found a great fast sword to use instead that my high intelligence, relatively low dex and strength character could use, and suddenly I starting kicking BUTT. One hit kills left and right. And then, in the very next area, suddenly it was a really weak weapon against the next enemies, and I was forced back to Ternian attack and chugging mana potions. And then for my alternate hand I found a different sword! Even stronger than the first. And for one area I was kicking ass again. Two hit kills all over the place. And then in the next area, it was fairly worthless again.
And when I say “the next area”, I’m not talking about even just getting to a new portal. Just a change in biome and enemies, and suddenly these new enemies I guess don’t have the same vulnerabilities to physical damage maybe? Anyway, the difficulty in this game is so all over the place.
I’m getting close to Athens now. My portals show up next to the “Athens” portal on the portal map, even though I’m not there yet. I just bought the 500,000 gold coin tier expansion to my stash, so I’m particularly poor right now. Hopefully I can keep buying mana potions to chug.
Are you playing a caster and not using a staff?

Staffs give a large bonus to energy regeneration, you’re always running out of mana in significant part because you’re not using one.
Ternian blast only works with staffs though.
It’s a price ability, whose best feature is spreading around auto debuffs. That’s why people use them with Rogues, since their poison attack can debuff wide amounts of units.
Probably not best to use it as your main auto attack ability, till you get the mana costs down.
This is why I like characters that can wield giant hammers and smash things into the walls, buffed by some modest magical abilities. It’s less complicated that way. :)

When I switch away from the staff (and Ternian blast), I just do normal attack, I don’t use any mana. I only use mana when I switch back to the staff. I have Ternian Blast at maximum, so it uses 44 mana on each use I think, and I only have about 345 mana, so I get 7 uses, but let’s say the mana regeneration gives me about 8 before I have to chug a potion.
It’s okay, it’s no biggie. I actually like trying to kill things with a sword or spear or whatever in normal circumstances. And then switch the heavy guns for crowds and stronger enemies. Plus I have to drink less mana potions that way.
This is definitely way easier than playing that Hunter/Dream character that couldn’t even kill skeletons and turtles early in the game.
I’m past Athens now, but it looks like I missed a couple of side quests, so I might backtrack to the previous checkpoint to see what I missed.
Ah, a fan of the Defense class tree? It is a worthy skill tree that works great with almost any other, even something like Spirit or Storm.
My last char was Dream and Warfare, a potent combo if ever there was one. I’ve used Defence previously with Storm.

I have essentially no time to play anything and a stack of unplayed games I picked up this summer, and yet you bastards have me downloading TQ ( agame I beat 10 years ago) again. I have very mixed feelings about the lot of you. :p

I wish they would add a simple AI setting for this. Attack easiest or hardest or closest or etc.

This guy seemed to have a good handle on Titan Quest late game builds… otoh, his videos are 11 years old now.
