Wallet Threat Level

Has anyone tried this yet? Looks like it actually released today. A grim, Gothic turn-based roguelike from the glowing review I just read.

I guess Horizon: Zero Dawn’s PC port is the only big budget release this week? Anyone’s wallet under threat this week?

Oh wow, I didn’t realize this one was anywhere close to release. I think I’ve had it on my wishlist for years. I added it when I was looking around for a classic first person shooter experience. It’s a retro shooter that looks heavily inspired by DOOM, so basically right up my alley. I will be paying very close attention to reviews and picking it up if it’s deemed worthy.

I’m also interested in Horizon Zero Dawn.

I got Horizon: Zero Dawn as a gift, so no immediate threat to my wallet. But yeah, it’s the only big one this week, apparently.

I always look upon sports game releases like this with nostalgia. As mentioned in another thread recently, the last sports game I played with a variety of summer/winter sports was on my Amstrad back in 1990. So I always see these kinds of releases and wonder if it will be fun to experience that type of simple joy of getting better at simple controls and getting medals. I remember going to a friend’s place back in the early 80s who had an Apple IIe, and he had Summer Games on it. And it took us a full evening finally figure out how do a non-horrible throw in the Javelin event. Anyone remember that? You had to use the Left and Right arrows to run, and then hit throw really early to start the throwing motion for the javelin in time for you to not step over the line and get disqualified. Good times.

Phantasy Star Online 2, free to play so… we’ll see how much actual threat is there! :)

Also It Lurks Below is the Terraria style game by David Brevik (Diablo), out on Xbox means it finally got PC controller support!

The latest Hearthstone expansion comes Thursday for those of us who still play.

I don’t play anymore… but my wife does… so I do too. I guess I should say I haven’t played ladder in months, but I do play against her. So we did pick up the expansion for each of us, but unlike her I didn’t bother with the $80 version. The game is dead to me except for the little mini-tournaments we play against eachother.

Ever since last year the game hasn’t worked on her Tablet (still works on mine), so now she can only play on PC. This means we only play it once a week or so. It’s possible this will be our last expansion if they don’t fix the mobile version, which I’m not expecting them to do.

Enjoying “Fall Guys”. You try to not get eliminated in various mini games, some of which are races to the finish, team battles, a game where you basically play tag, etc. I finally managed to win a game and it was pretty satisfying. Seems like their servers are getting hit pretty hard so I’m guessing they are selling well.

I don’t see any wallet threats this week. Hyper Scape is Ubisoft’s (free to play?) Battle Royale.

I saw a trailer for this one. To the best of my knowledge, the first and only video game based on the works of Franz Kafka.

Maybe this, though reports of minimal content means I’m not rushing out to buy…

The jokes write themselves.

A potential wallet threat, if it wasn’t free on the Epic Store on its day of release.

Wow, glad I checked this thread. Giving away Troy for free on launch day. Thanks Fortnite gamers.

I remember loving the concept of that one when it was first announced, but I’m not sure how well it realized that concept. “Wait and see”, but I’m still somewhat intrigued.

This is the first I heard Popup Dungeon and it looks neat. Will this be an early access release?

Not sure. I suspect not, but I really don’t know.

I played the demo extensively during the recent Steam event, and this game is excellent, easily a Day 1 purchase.

It’s my understanding that it will be the actual release, but I, too, don’t know for certain. The demo was more of a complete game (by far) than many of the EA games I currently own.

I was correct: it’s the full release, not release into EA.
