Ok, our wallets might be under serious threat this week. First of all, developers of the last couple of Deus Ex games are coming out with a Guardians of the Galaxy game. @lordkosc’s wallet is under severe threat from Moonglow bay, a fishing rpg. Darkest Dungeon 2 is going to be a wallet threat for a lot of people this week. The N64/Sega Genesis games on Nintendo Switch Online, I’m guessing is not a big wallet threat to most Switch users. Not yet. There’s a new Fatal Frame game coming for every platform? Has anyone heard about this? The new game by the developers of Steep is coming out, Rider’s Republic, I think that might be a wallet threat this week. Happy Game looked very interesting at E3, that could be a wallet threat too.
Jeez, enough already! No, wait, there’s more! A new Mario Party comes out this week. AND a cow milking simulator on the Switch. And the venerable series Age of Empires returns, this time done by Relic. Phew. Well, at least that last one is on Game Pass.

Nope. It’s the fifth game, which was Japan only for a few years, I think. Honestly was not expecting it to ever get an English release, let alone hit PC.
There’s a new Call of Duty game coming out that’s set in World War 2, so I’m guessing a lot of people’s wallets are under threat this week. And a new Just Dance game comes out, so a completely different set of people might have their wallets under severe threat as well. The success of Just Dance makes me wonder what Harmonix did wrong with their dancing game.

Which actually made the Online+Expansions subscription from Nintendo a wallet threat for our family. No point in buying the DLC for ACNH when you’d need two for the Switches anyway. And with the N64 and Sega add-ons, there are other games I want to try someday (like Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time) that I never had the opportunity to play.
A big week for new releases this week. That Japanese RPG whose name I can’t pronounce gets a 5th iteration. Forza Horizon gets a 5th iteration, this time in Mexico! Airborne Kingdom comes to consoles (it’s a city builder, but you’re flying in the air?) Rockstar is rereleasing GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas on the new consoles with a small layer of spit shine, I think? A new Football Manager is coming out. A new Jurassic World Evolution is coming out. The Final Fantasy 5 pixel remaster comes out. KOTOR comes to Switch. Ship Graveyard Simulator is such an evocative name, someone please tell me more about that! And of course, just like every year for the last 10 years, we’re getting a new version of Skyrim.

Not getting Shin Megaten V, as I grabbed Undernauts, and my credit card info has somehow been stolen last week which means 2 weeks without impulse purchases!
I loved the hell out of Nocturne back in the day, enough so that after finishing it I couldn’t get enough of the series and played through SMT 1, 2, and Raidou Kuzunoha in short order, and then Strange Journey and Devil Survivor on the DS. But on the other hand, my tastes have drifted away from traditional (that is, not tactical-, action-, or roguelike-) RPGs in the past decade+, and I can’t recall the last time I actually finished one*. Logically I probably shouldn’t buy SMT V, but I suspect curiosity is going to get the better of me.
Similarly, driving games are another genre where I dabble from time to time when the mood strikes, but haven’t actually loved since… whenever the Burnout series faded away. I’ll certainly give Forza a shot on Game Pass though.
*Fake edit: OK, I was curious so went back and looked at my Grouvee, and it looks like it would have been Final Fantasy X Remaster on the Vita in January 2015.
Any wallet threats this week? Looking at this list, it feels like we’re heading into a period where most of the heavy hitters of the year are now out. The latest Battlefield game is coming out on the 19th, I know that’s a wallet threat for people. And a couple of Pokemon games are coming out, which is always a wallet threat for fans. Game pass continues to have some interesting upcoming games, like Exo One this week.

I looked up what the heck Klang 2 is, and the description sounds very promising.
Klang 2 is a psychedelic rhythm-action game , blindly pursuing full immersion with dance music through high-speed combat. Conduct electronic symphonies with your lightning powers, wield magical tuneblades, and achieve a euphoric state of trance through skillful play.
I love the combination of music and action in games!
