Wallet Threat Level

Nova Drift is due out very soon (not “late 2018”).
It is published (and polished) by Pixeljam, but not developped by them.
It is a Diablo meets a “classical shooter” (in their words, looks a bit danmaku-ish in the videos) sort of project, and I’ll probably buy it the minute it is released.

Grab your wallets and give them the money! $11.99 until August 7.

I remember that 1979 Revolution game getting decent buzz back when it was released on PC.

Any Forsaken fans here btw? Maybe @krayzkrok? It came out about a year before Descent 3. My brother and I were both huge Descent fans, and we both played all the way through the first two games, and played a lot of multiplayer Descent 2 on Kali. But then we were split on Forsaken. I thought the garrish lighting and level design made Forsaken not worth playing. He thought it was a really good Descent clone. And then Descent 3 came out, and I loved it, but he said he couldn’t stop playing Forsaken, that Forsaken was better than Descent 3.

I can’t believe Forsaken Remastered just came out this week. Who even remembered this game besides some handful of people? I guess Descent-style gameplay really is making a comeback.

I watched the trailer on the Xbox last night. The trailer’s framerate was really horrible at some points. I’m hoping that’s not an indication of the final game’s frame rate.

Here was that Forsaken trailer. It’s nice to hear the Forsaken music again:

Also, the multiplayer update for Stardew Valley comes out today.

That “8 to Glory” game has my attention. A bull-riding game? How would that even work?

Someone vote for that for Request Wednesdays from now on!

I was just thinking about Forsaken a couple weeks ago. I was trying to come up with ideas for the music thunderdome, and I remember liking Forsaken’s music at the time, though when I gave it a quick listen again it didn’t resonate with me.

Still, it got me thinking about it again. I had the N64 version, and was always trying to rope friends into multiplayer.

Also, it had the best/worst box art.

This week’s big ones were Dead Cells, Overcooked! 2, and coming out today, the new Madden (back on PC!) and We Happy Few. Apparently on Monday a new World of Warcraft expansion is coming out. I bet a lot of people’s wallets are still not safe from that one.

Some hot indies this week in the Switch debut of Cosmic Star Heroine and the long-awaited release of Death’s Gambit.

What is this, rerelease? Enhancements?

The Bard’s Tale trilogy was remastered as part of the Bard’s Tale IV kickstarter. Really looking forward to playing these again! Should be on both Steam and GoG. Not sure if all 3 or just the first one are being released tomorrow though.

BT1 comes out tomorrow, BT2 in fall, and BT3 in winter.

They are remastered; added automapping to all the games and they have updated VGA-quality graphics which are a pretty dramatic improvement over the originals, but don’t expect them to look even remotely up to date.

Battle for Azeroth is available at 6PM on the East Coast today. 3PM on the West. I think you’re posting US dates for everything, so that should be noted.

This is coming out for the PC too.

I thought it was already out for the PC?

Edit: Wow, I guess not. Tom has been streaming it so much I thought it had been out for a while.

Since it’s discussed upthread, does anybody want to take a swing at talking me into or out of The Bard’s Tale Trilogy? I’m in the mood for a game with party management and character creation (no pre-gens burdening me with their backstories and side missions, please), so it certainly scratches that itch. On the other hand, it’s a generation or two before my time. I am generally okay with the NES versions of Wizardry for what that’s worth.

Edit: Looks like I should have thought to check the Bard’s Tale IV thread instead for the info I was looking for.

Do you like mapping things on graph paper? If so, the Bard’s Tale trilogy is for you.

It’s something I’ve done in the past, but not something I’m eager to get back to. The remaster has automapping I thought?

Except the remaster has automapping.
