Wallet Threat Level

What do the pieces look like? One of my fundamental issues with war games is that they’re usually little rectangular cardboard pieces with like a flag or X or checkerboard pattern, doesn’t look like a tank or that green army guy with binoculars in one hand while extending a “come on!” gesture with the other.

That’s why Memoir ‘44 is my favorite war game, because it’s full of little plastic tanks and army guys. It’s fun, shut up!

Ooh, is that a real game? You grognard types better not be holding out on me, I want that!

Why’d the chicken cross the road?

To get to the left from the right, sir!

Oh yeah, I guess it’s been pretty quiet the last few weeks on big releases.

Here was this week’s. I’d say Wallet Threat Level: Mario Tennis. (I enjoyed Mario Tennis on the N64, so I’m a bit jealous of Switch owners this week).

Tuesday, June 19

There’s a big release next week: The Crew 2 comes out next week on all platforms, I believe.

Also, why is Yoku’s Island listed again? Didn’t we discuss that a few weeks ago in this thread?

Adding on the 21st:

Objects in Space (Early Access) - PC

This week’s wallet threat level is high for retro JRPG fans.

Also, the sheer volume of Nintendo Switch releases continues. I wonder how Switch owners even keep track of this stuff now.

Looking forward to Earthfall with my kids. Annoys the crap out of me when companies put up pre-orders only for the base version, then release a deluxe edition though. Fortunately in this case the price was the same and the add-on content wasn’t terribly interesting ($10 for character skins).

Sometimes when I go visit my local pub I just leave my wallet on the bar when I pay my tab. They’re always really good about hanging onto it and sometimes they call me to tell me I’ve done it again. But that’s my main wallet threat these days.

August 31st

Divinity: Original Sin 2 (PS4, Xbox One)
Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker (PS4, Xbox One, PC)

I’m interested in We Happy Few, to see if it turns out like Bioshock or if it turns out like a crappy rogue-like.

Quite interested as well.

I’m interested in Barbarossa Derailed

Iconoclasts and Salt & Sanctuary are releasing for Switch on August 2, so I’m thinking of picking at least one of them up.

Star Traders Frontiers today.
Phantom Doctrine (XCOM meets the Cold War) on the 14th
Scythe “late August”, although the EA version available is already quite good
Aggressors:Ancient Rome on the 30th

All PC

I grabbed it last year before the price increase, I’ll report in when 1.0 officially hits. I haven’t touched the game at all in EA, as they kept changing so much stuff.

Aug. 30th

Two Point Hospital

That’s all I need for this month.

exapunks!

I enjoyed the heck out of Salt and Sanctuary, so I’d recommend it. I found the 3D camera and controls in Dark Souls to be extremely frustrating, and Salt was a way for me to get the Dark Souls experience without the interface difficulties.
