Oh hey, Zach at Kotaku is compiling his list again! Nice, you don’t have to put up with my inadequate googling skills this week.

So what’s the big wallet threat this week? Mario Strikers for the Switch? KOTOR 2 for the Switch? A new expansion for Elder Scrolls Online? A new Postal game? A new Tour de France game? Hey, do you really get to see a lot of the French country side in these games? Maybe I should look into that.

Oh I’m sorry Monkey, I didn’t know you had to do those previous efforts all with your fingers!

Well if you have enough monkeys at a typewriter then eventually they will write Shakespeare.

I’m wondering why I found the cigarette on that monkey so hilarious, but the pipe the other monkey is smoking does nothing for me.

The “sophisticated” pinkie makes the image for me.

I guess the big release this week is Redout 2. At least for fans of Wipeout-style racers. The Switch version was delayed again, but it should still be coming out on other platforms this week. Thanks again to Zack at Kotaku for putting together this list.

This is the big one for me.

The hype!

But I don’t have time to play HOGs on the Switch, already too many games that are relaxing there.

I liked that toy on PC.

I might give Dadish 3 a try eventually. The first two were charming little platformers.

Ninja Turtles does look amazing, but I didn’t particularly enjoy playing Streets of Rage 4 even while I appreciated its whole vibe. If it has cheat codes or easy mode that might be a good co-op with the kids.

I just realized I should probably get TMNT on the Switch to make it easier to play with my kids, and so they don’t take even more of my computer time! I hope performance is good. Surely it can handle that game, right…?

I didn’t really enjoy Streets of Rage 4 either, even though I wanted to like it. Fight 'N Rage is probably the closest I’ve come to enjoying a recent indie beat 'em up. I’m banking on nostalgia and co-op this time.

Whoa, what is this? Sounds totally up my alley!

I got it on the Switch and it was no Everblue. The game itself was not too bad, but the very limited environment (invisible walls all around) made me feel as I was exploring an aquarium, not the ocean. The game featured wild life photographing, but asked me to grab stuff with very little indication of where it was. It felt a bit like an egg search in a pool to me, sadly.

Everblue 2 is still so good.

This comes out tomorrow. Very positive review from Eurogamer, it might need its own thread soon for this speedrunning FPS.

To say that this game is fast is an understatement. Neon White is designed around you getting to the end of the level as fast as you can, giving you a variety of tools from level to level. These tools come in the form of soul cards, pickups that give you access to a range of firearms that can alternatively be “spent” for one-off supernatural powers. Take the rifle, for example: use it as a weapon, and you’ve got a long range, pretty powerful gun that can take down most enemies in a couple of shots. Or, you can “spend” it to do a speedy dash across a gap, taking down any enemies along the way as you phase through them, but that does put you down a gun.

As a core mechanic, it is incredibly tight, and there wasn’t a single weapon amongst the lot that felt bad or finicky to use. So that you’re not too overpowered, you can only ever have two soul cards at once. And so that you’re not up a particular creek, you always have a katana that does small amounts of damage, but it also doesn’t have any special powers.

Sounds pretty neat. It’s from the developer of Donut County.

Looks like an all clear on TMNT. Nintendo Life mentioned performance issues but they seem more like bugs that can be fixed than the Switch hardware sucking too much to keep up. I’m going with Switch.

I’m kinda unreasonably excited about TMNT all of a sudden.

I thought you guys were old. Look at you all getting excited for that boring kid cartoon!

Wow this is out already? I kind of assumed it was going to be in EA for a while from the footage. It just looks so painfully generic, unfortunately.
