I’m imagining JMJ wearing dark glasses and a silk bathrobe while puffing on a cigar and sipping scotch at 9:00AM while looking over the beautiful view out of some grandiose west coast mansion. The girls are hanging by the infinity pool which looks out through the glass railing, allowing unrestricted views of the wildfires in the distance.
JMJ slowly gazes out, knowing he has amassed his great wealth with just that small spark of imagination: Feminist Porn.
There was a great Amy Schumer episode on female POV porn. The woman was getting drilled doggy style and it just showed a pillow. Laughed like a banshee-- it does seem really boring, doesn’t it?
It’s been tried a few times, and with some limited succes. The thing is, many women have different kind of sexual fantasies than men, so there should be a market. They just don’t seem as willing to pay for it though. Then the internet porn happened, and most of those major production companies that tried to make a REAL movie out a porn movie kinda just died out.
A respectable Danish film company (Well, somewhat, if you know Peter Aalbæk) Zentropa, with Lars Von Trier whom you may have heard off in charge of it, tried to make porn movies for women. I am unsure whether it was a financial success, but they closed down their production company (pussy power) shortly after, so I guess not.
The various mostly-failed attempts at porn “for” women aren’t necessarily the same as modern feminist porn, though.
Feminist porn doesn’t have to be soft-focus, romantic, story-driven, etc. It can be as varied and hardcore as “regular” porn. Check out Bright Desire, Lucie Makes Porn, Erika Lust, Pink Label TV, etc.
There’s a very wide range of “romance”, from conventional mystery and fantasy genre stories with romantic elements through regency romance through contemporary romance to romantic erotica. Sex scenes are common but not mandatory or ubiquitous, but they don’t usually dominate the story except in outright erotica. Pretty much like any genre, many books are very formulaic, others are imaginative, well-crafted, and literary. Georgette Heyer, the inventor of the regency romance, would be a good writer to start with to learn what the genre is like but you won’t find any sex scenes there because she wrote in the mid-20th century.
My point is that romance without explicit sex might be what most women are more into. So the very question, “where is all the hardcore lady porn” might be the wrong question to even ask.
Back in 2010 I was blessed to be the focus of a certain woman’s midlife crisis. She told me she, uh, uses romance novels as porn. She made fun of the way the writers describe sex – “Suddenly she was falling off a cliff in a swirling plummeting ecstasy of abandon” – but says it’s what does the trick for her. Actual porn makes her all twittery and giggly and she immediately switches it off.
Then just last year (I think) a college friend who could have coupled off with me but never did started sending me illicit e-mails (what can I say, I’m the road less traveled by) and SHE told me she watches gay bear daddy porn exclusively. She loves it. It has nothing to do with her actual sex life at all, but it’s her bookmarked category on Pornhub.
But as for what feminist porn would like like…Did you see the movie “Living in Oblivion” with Steve Buscemi, back in the 90s? There’s a subplot about a romance between two crew members, and at one point we see the woman’s fantasy where there’s a all the trappings of a torrid sex scene except instead of having sex the man is holding her and saying something like, “Your POWER! I love your POWER!” It was meant to be funny, but I think it’s funny because it’s exactly right for a lot of Western middle-class women.
Yeah, soon enough the tech will be available on cellphones, and we can all furiously masturbate to full-spectrum VR drilling our highschool crush in first-person POV while she begs us to penetrate her ass using our given name. I can’t wait!
Okay, for science and stuff I had to go look up one of the results on reddit. Holy shit, this is indeed some crazy stuff. I swear, kids today have it all. AI-enabled celeb porn on their mobile phone.
What the hell. We had to stealthily get porno mags from the friend on the block who’s father was either hip, or who’s wife didn’t know about it.
