Star Citizen - Chris Roberts, lots of spaceship porn, lots of promises

I’m still trying to figure out who the hell invested that $46 million into this shitshow last year. Literally the only thing that would look good to an investor would be the ongoing inflow of money from whales and even that is finite.

Money laundering?

I’d stake my reputation on it.

This is my favorite from that Star Citizen forum:

So it’s like donating to the Red Cross! Do you ask the Red Cross for your money back? No. QED.

Also, what’s up with all these fake-o “articles” that are suddenly coming out? None of them has any new reporting in it whatsoever. It’s just quotes from the Forbes article re-cut into a new story about some aspect of the game, like the guy who kept buying after not getting a refund. They just essentially restated about two paragraphs Forbes reported.

Welcome to (gaming) media in 2019!

At least there’s finally some criticism instead of uncritical fawning.

Oh it’s absolutely not just gaming media. Political media is just as bad, and if that’s true I have to imagine it’s just internet media period.

An off-shore billionaire named Calder.

It really is the only explanation. Nothing else remotely makes sense. And I said in my Sun rant, no institutional investor or publisher gave them any traction. I mean you’d think that with all the investment money floating around the industry right now, that investors and publishers would be dying to throw money at the great Chris Roberts.

No. It’s like donating to your church so your preacher can live in a multi-million Dollar house, drive a Ferrari etc, while you hold down three jobs to make rent.

Because it’s Forbes and all those cowards who wouldn’t dare print Derek Smart’s propaganda FUD, suddenly have a reason to jump on the bandwagon of a mainstream publication posting something we already knew, but which required the likes of Forbes to give credibility to.

Sometimes I just want to put a bullet in the Internet. The scummiest things I ever did on BBSs was sharing warez and dodgy IFFs of Samantha Fox.

It’s pretty amazing. Less than six months ago, this “TechSpot” published this completely uncritical report taking everything at complete face value:

Now it regurgitates the Forbes’ articles conclusions.

Yup. They’re not alone in that.

The Forbes Fallout

Wow. Forbes puts a piece, and the rest of the gaming “journalism” world nestles up to it like a bunch of suckling piglets. Heaven forbid if the Washington Post or The NY Times cast their gaze on SC.

(Although they might when, in 2020, 1000 people – including Roberts and his posse – are found dead by self-inflicted cyanide poisoning at CitizenCon '20. I called it.)

Take every goddamn ad-driven gaming “review” site and blog and just flush the fucking things down the toilet. Bunch of mouth-breathing copy-pasta artists who actually follow the grammar rules in Word, and don’t know what a fucking Oxford comma is. Whose idea of “investigative journalism” is to do a search on YouTube for “influencers”.

AND PULL YER GODDAMN PANTS UP, BOY

If it makes you feel any better, nobody reads most gaming sites anymore. They’re just trying to scrape at the last few advertising dollars that remain before they die.

Hey man, I like my blog. :P

But, like everything else in the Internet, it just get worse. Magazines got killed by (relatively) moderated and edited sites. Those got killed by copy-pasta cockroach sites and blogs. Now those are getting killed by the endless fuckfaces on YouTube and elsewhere spouting their worthless opinions – well, since many of them are shills, their opinions are less than useless. I can’t wait to see what replaces them in this downward cycle of 15-minutes-of-fame grasping and bottomless corporate greed.

As much as it pains me to say it, you’re a subject expert. No, wait, you like Parkan 2. I take that back.

Hey, you’re right and I agree, but I was trying to give you the glass half full view by omitting how the next thing is worse ;)
