Star Citizen - Chris Roberts, lots of spaceship porn, lots of promises

Only three years? Hope springs eternal.

In a way, the elevator pitch works, as Star Citizen is a bit like a (very unstable) building that they continue to add floors to, and thus, they need new elevators and technology to reach them.

I’m pretty sure Project Neom will be done before SC… Unless by some chance encounter they get combined.

Edit: And we haven’t even touched the subject of the SPACE ELEVATOR!

ROBERTS SPACE ELEVATORS.

Why do we not have this already.

On even the most basic level, you clearly need to have IUEC (International Union of Elevator Constructors) membership possible. That gets us strikes, strike breaking, negotiations with management, and inter-union politics.

I mean, let’s not half ass this. We shall live as Star Citizens.

Our resident Shillizen thinks the number is closer to $425m.

But no word about elevators? :-( someone needs to give DPCR an elevator pitch.

Damn, 425m… isn’t that the budget of GTAV+RDR2 combined?
wow, read that Defiance cost 80m$ to develop… the game certainly didn’t look that way, even thought it was fun for quite a while.

Yes, now you have my attention… my only concern is mortgaging my house may not be enough to afford a jpeg of a Class C RSI entry level elevator.

I recently saw cost and sales estimates for GTA5 and was very impressed. And SC ain’t no blockbuster like that game.

Don’t forget that, somehow, this is all my fault

ps: This tool took $42K+ of his personal injury money - and gave it to Chris Roberts. That’s all that needs to be said about this.

cough something that rhymes with shmoney haundering cough

That was sad to watch in that Star Citizen won’t succeed in doing what he’s paying them for, but I’m sympathetic to a paralyzed man in a wheelchair having a major hobby/investment/dream like this. He’s fairly candid about the point of spending a lot of money, too.

But, damn, for that kind of money he could have purchased a killer game rig with multiple monitors, cool peripherals, and all the accessibility stuff he might want, plus any number of actual working games.

Also, at this point, how can anyone look at the amount of money Roberts’ company has raised as good thing? What good is hundreds of million in funding when all of the results over more than a decade have been, essentially, bupkis? Do people really think that “just ten million more and it’ll happen!”?

I still dont understand how they are getting clean money out - unless SC is paying lots of money to dodgy paper contractors or something like that. Seems like the kind of thing that leaves a lot more evidence than you would want though.

Perhaps it’s simply paying huge salaries to people are undeserving (Sandy, cough, cough). Without a publisher and any real public accountability - the top people could simply be milking the cow like crazy.

Sure, but that wouldn’t be money laundering (unless Sandy et al have links to a criminal enterprise)

For it to be money laundering criminals would need a way to put dirty money in and get clean money out.

That’s not money laundering. In America we call that a corporation.

For sure. I hope he has a sweet rig. Guessing his personality leads him to not play most other games.

Totally would rather see his money go elsewhere, just sympathetic.

True…

Being in a wheelchair doesn’t change the fact that you’re a very - very - stupid person to have spent $42K of money that should go toward your wellbeing, on a scam.
