World of Warcraft Classic

It’s anecdotal evidence at best, but I’ve seen a lot of returning subscribers leveling characters on my podunk regular-old-WoW server.

Hell yeah

I’d forgotten all about that! Getting attuned for MC was no picnic either.

I think I finally got my own copy of the key after everyone had moved on to other dungeons. Didn’t Stratholme require a key too?

The secondary entrance did, yes.

I’m tempted, but not much.

I spent a few years in Classic. For about a year, my highlights in group content were leading BRS runs and helping folks get attuned for MC. I got good at that. I did Onyxia twice, and MC 2 times thru the end (many more failures).

But it was just too much work. I had to schedule it, track drops for guild mates, etc. I had two young kids and a busy job. I dropped out of raids and never went back to them in any MMO again. I enjoyed BC on solo but quit for good after a few attempts at group content in Wrath.

Then went to LOTRO, and have happily soloed at my own pace since.

In this version of WoW, what’s the raid size for Molten Core? It started at 40 and then went down to 24, right? Which is it here?

Molten Core never went below 40.

Here’s a handy chart.

It’s a little unsettling how much I’m looking forward to Classic opening. I can’t imagine that it’s going to live up to it.

I know exactly how you feel. But after having played in the beta, I can honestly say that after all these years and all its warts I am very much looking forward to playing Classic WoW when it goes live next Monday, August 26th.

The minor bit of leveling I did gave me a great feeling, like a great big warm bowl of stew in the winter. Leveling a Tauren druid hadn’t changed much by the time I picked up WoW with the Lich King expansion, felt like a visit with an old friend. Definitely not like the theme-park styled, running a set path Goblin, Wargen, or Panda staring areas that would come after.

Ok, fine, you all win. I made some characters on Mankirk/Alliance. I look forward to sitting in a login queue of 10000 people on Monday evening with the rest of you!

I’m planning to play a Warlock because who wouldn’t want to fiddle with soulstones and have to go through a long, involved, and complicated questline to get their steed?

I downloaded battle net and found my old account. I can’t login when I’m in the WOW client thought? I click create account and it dumps me to this screen:

Hm, all of your editions are starters. It doesn’t look like you’ve ever bought the game.

Ohh. This is my hearthstone account, so I’d need to find the account I had back in 2004?

So you guys can login to this thing right now?

\

No, I just want to play classic, the new stuff is dumb.

If that’s the one that you registered the box you bought on, yeah.

You’ll probably have to purchase the lastest expansion to get up-to-date, though, and it’s going to be the same price, so you might as well just buy it on this account.

EDIT: Oops, I am wrong…I guess you just need a subscription to WoW to get access to Classic.

You don’t need to buy anything other than a subscription in order to play WoW Classic. As soon as you subscribe your account gets upgraded to the most recent-but-one expansion. If you don’t care about your previous starter editions you could:

  1. Go here and remove all current starter editions from your battle.net account:
    https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/10446
  2. Create a new “fresh” starter account
  3. Subscribe to World of Warcraft - which will automatically upgrade your starter edition to a full one
  4. Play Classic WoW until your eyes bleed and your life implodes :D

Okay I figured it out, i just needed a subscription and it becomes autologin! Thank you. Now if I can remember what my character looked like in 2007…

Man that Mankirk server is super full guys.

Awesome :)
Here’s the latest info from Blizzard RE: overcrowded servers

We are going to get the Classic experience alright. Day one, you are XXX in line.

So there really is no Qt3 server or faction? When I last looked at the poll players were split everywhere. I was hoping we’d have 10-15 players agreeing to play on one server and on the same side.

Not official Qt3 but this guild, The Wanderers, has several of us that frequent this site.
