Wal-Mart needs to tread lightly here. They’re sending out mass e-mails lying about the situation (I just got an e-mail saying one of the monitors I have sitting in my house was “lost or damaged during shipping” and that I would be unable to pick it up). I also hear stories of them telling people their packages contain “bad medicine” and need to be returned. They sent out an e-mail yesterday saying the merchandise I already have in hand would not be available for pick-up due to the price discrepancy, completely contradicting their mass e-mails from tonight.

What the fuck are they thinking?

I would suggest they are thinking they can get away with it, saving more than they’d lose. Most people are opportunistic, not idealistic.

Don’t be one of those self-righteous price discrepancy whiners. You beat the system and got your goods. No need to sit there and judge them too.

I don’t think that’s really fair.

Regardless of the motivation or aims of the buyer, there’s no way that flat out lying about the reasons why they won’t complete the transaction is anything but disgusting. It should be completely illegal.

The correct response is - we goofed, but we’re honoring our incompetence. Or we are cancelling your order, but have a gift certificate or something because it’s still our fault.

The wrong response is - we don’t care if you trust us to sell you things at a price we list, so here’s a bunch of made up bullshit about how we’re completely avoiding any responsibility.

Not that a company like Walmart really cares, but they’re still shitting in your mouth and calling it a sundae.

In the wide gulf between incompetent corporate scrambling and shitting in mouths lies Internet forums.

I don’t really care one way or the other. Sometimes we can all use a friendly reminder when we’re getting too full of ourselves.

Incompetent corporate scrambling is putting it lightly. I’m just shocked to see such a massive company like Wal-Mart putting out this kind of bullshit in the face of all this scrutiny. Don’t they have a public relations department? Don’t they realize that blatantly lying to tens of thousands of customers when they have a huge spotlight on them is probably not a great idea? And it’s not even necessary! Like Becoming said, either say you fucked up and you’re honoring it, or say you fucked up and you’re not honoring it (to those that haven’t received their items at least). Sending Fedex drivers back to peoples’ homes and telling them “Oh we shipped bad medication and we’re going to need it back.” or telling somebody that their product was lost or damaged and won’t be available for pickup when it’s sitting in front of them in pristine condition is not professional behavior.

For what it’s worth, one of my monitors (let’s pretend it’s the one I’m using as we speak) is currently listed as “returned” on their website. They’re supposedly in the process of refunding me for it. Well thanks, I guess.

Future shop has the best trade in deal, ever:

Lucky Canadians!

My wife wanted me to get out there and get a trade in for her, but the line-up is all around the store and they are stopping people at the door saying they are sold out of all copies by the time the line ends. Even if they had copies of the games left, I wouldn’t waste my time in a line-up that would take an hour or more to get through. I’d rather pay for the game.

Walmart:

Whatever happened about looking out for the other person? When I am at a store and some one gives me change and gave me back to much, I always give the money back to the cashier because I would not want that person to lose their job.

If someone at Walmart inputs the wrong amount by accident, all of a sudden should I not worry about that person keeping his/her job because I can tag it with a corporate label? There is still someone in trouble when the smoke clears.

The same with Walmart itself of course they should not be making up stories to correct the mistake.

Just makes me think that two wrongs do not make it right. IMHO

Less chatter, more bargains, plzkthx!

Humble Bundle’s bonus games are already in the webpage code: Fear, Guardians of Middle Earth, Gotham City Imposters Professional Kit (stuff in a F2P game, link), and the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection. We won’t know for sure until tuesday though.

friend traded 3 copies of old nhl for all 3 games this morning at future shop.

Steam today: FTL $4.99 -50%.
The first great Kickstarter game!

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Collector’s Edition is on sale at ToysRUs for $19.98 U.S.

Let me guess, you are annoyed by all the people who go ballistic when the retailer refuses to honor a pricing mistake? Yeah, me too. Its a nice gesture when they offer a gift card but I don’t even see why they owe anybody that.

But that’s not what Penny was bitching about. He was complaining because they allegedly just flat out lied about broken items, bad ‘medicine’ and other deceitful tactics to cover a pricing mistake. That’s total bullshit.

What with Wal-Mart’s corporate culture, it doesn’t really surprise me.

Can’t find a thread on it, but I’m curious if anyone has anything good to say about Cities In Motion 2. GMG has it for $6.79 and I’ve been on kind of a city sim kick the last few weeks.

I’d love to see someone do an update of Transport Tycoon. The fact that no-one ever talks about this game makes me think this probably isn’t it. The screenshots are pretty though.

I’ve asked a couple of times when it was on sale and got crickets. The reviews I looked up said it had problems that its predecessor didn’t have, and were generally lower than the first. SO I’ve avoided it. A shame, because this could be a great series if they just made generating revenue a little easier (at least, I could never get anywhere with cheap options like buses).

I briefly tried Cities in Motion 2 and decided it wasn’t worth the effort. I can’t even remember what it was about it that made be quit. My guess is that passenger habits weren’t intuitive to me. Also it was a pain to layout tracks and stuff in an existing city. I did play CiM 1, and while I didn’t think it was that great I did stick with it enough to finish the campaign (I think). I wouldn’t waste my money on CiM 2.

The last groupee bundle seems decent. A King’s Bounty game (Warriors of the North), and each KB is super long, Electronic Super Joy, Last Knight, Shelter and One Finger Death Punch.
